Who has summer homework?

I'm taking APUSH and AP Chem, along with all honors (including my art class that's feeling more like AP) and CAD (because I need a bs class to get stuff done in).

I have to read the Life of Pi, In Cold Blood, and How to Read Literature Like a Professor (I've basically already decided I'm not reading that one). For art I have to take a lot of pictures of different things (not much of a summer assignment really), make 3 observational drawings, collect at least 20 objects for our relief sculpture project, and create a Powerpoint for career exploration, researching two art-related careers we've already chosen. For APUSH, I have to create an ouline and read the first 6 chapters. For AP Chem, I have to read the first 3 chapters and answer the questions afterwards, which are about 150 total.

The reason I have so much art homework btw is because I'm in the art program, so it's a pretty advanced class. Still annoying, but yeah I asked for it.

Yeah, having summer homework sucks.

By the way, if you’re studying for the SAT I, “the reason is because” should be replaced with “the reason is that” in your final paragraph.

Life of Pi and How to Read Literature Like a Professor are both amazing books. Some of the other stuff sounds tedious, though. :/

I have apush homework I have to outline 3 chapters and define two hundred terms

I have AP psych, AP Econ, and Hnrs anat of writing crap

someone should just find a clause in the Constitution that summer hw violates, and take it to the Supreme Ct.

The second amendment. #Murica

I’m reading a book for an English class. No notes or anything else - just reading it.

Grumpily raises hand

I have four books to read for AP World History this summer, and happily three of the four actually appeal to me. The one that is about the British Navy conquering the world and rah rah rah blah blah blah is going to do my head in. “How to Read Like a Professor” is also on my reading list for my English class! I guess it’s a popular book for summer reading. I haven’t started it yet. I also have to pick three books to read from a list and write a two page essay on each one for English. I’m going with “The Portrait of a Lady,” “In Search of Lost Time,” and “Madame Bovary.” I’m seeing Shakespeare in the park and writing a review, but that’s for extra credit. I have to submit some art work, too. I have to either write a 5 page paper about a news event relating to US Foreign Policy or Terrorism that happens this summer or two short essays about two news events for my history seminar.

@BipolarBuddhist‌ Lol thanks, that sounds better and makes sense actually.

By the way, how many soon-to-be juniors have already started studying for the SAT’s? I feel like I should start this summer, but…ehhh. I know taking a class at my CC would be the easiest way to start, but I don’t want my mom to spend the money (plus I want to take an art class at RISD instead, and that’s expensive as hell).

I have to read over 30 articles in Spanish and write summaries on all of them. #fruitlessAPspanishassignmentthatmyteacherwon’tgradeuntilDecemberanyway #GoogleTranslate
I also have to read The Old Man and the Sea for AP Lit. Plus I’m doing some independent reading this summer (Amy Tan, Oscar Wilde, George Orwell, etc.). And there’s probably AP Physics homework, but I haven’t gotten it yet.

And college essays - how could I forget? :(

I don’t plan on studying for SATs for a while with all the summer homework.
AP English Language -
Read “Fast Food Nation” and make a reading log analyzing at least 25 passages, then participate in an online blog discussion.
AP Spanish Language -
Watch a telenovela the whole summer and write a two page report/summary.
AP Statistics (oh gosh)
Send an email on why I want to take the class, write two two-page reports on why statistics is important for everyday use based on two articles, and read a guide book to AP Statistics.
AP Biology -

Oooh I remember reading In Cold blood for AP Lang. It was a good read.

AP Lit

Read and do lengthy assignments for The Stranger and Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Due the Tuesday after Labor Day.

IB History:

Read and do an easy assignment for Fahrenheit 451, a book I already read in 9th grade. This is a required summer assignment for every single high schooler in the school district.

AP Calculus:

Lengthy packet due on the first day.

AP Statistics (I might not be able to take the class, so not sure if I should still do the assignment):

Not as lengthy packet also due on the first day. Pretty much all review.

IB Biology:

No formal assignment, but look over all syllabus details from the first 6 chapters (what we were supposed to cover last year), and draw various diagrams.

Also, I need to get going on college applications and essays. I’ll probably start some time in early July.

Wow, all of you guys have so much homework compared to me! I only have to read the first chapters of my AP World History textbook (so like 100 pages), then make a map labeling ancient civilizations. And we have to make lots of flashcards too. I don’t have anything for Honors English and I find that so weird.

Life of Pi is a GREAT book. I’m actually currently reading it in another language as well.

AP Chemistry: I have to take an exemption test to get out of honors chemistry, and do a packet on the first 5 chapters of AP Chemistry.

AP Language: Read “1984” by George Orwell (work on persuasion), read “Mythology” by Edith Hamilton (assigned work on specific chapters), read “The Nuts and Bolts of College Writing” by Michael Harvey (do a poster with 10 writing tips from the book), and then read a choice book and answer a discussion forum online about it (I already read “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell).

AP Calculus: I have to do the entire AB course in 8 weeks to get into BC. (done through Johns Hopkins, and they make it harder than the actual AB exam. </3)

Economics and statistics don’t come with any work, thank god.

I just have to read East of Eden and Crime and Punishment for AP Lit, but then i have 51 mu alpha theta tests to do… :((
