Who has VISITED dorms?

donlon=social
dickson=social in some parts, anti-social in others ( i lived in dickson last year)
mews/court=new
townhouses=anti-social, secluded, far from central
balch=scarily quiet

btw, dickson consists of mostly singles. if you pick a single like me, you would most likely be in dickson. balch has veryyy biggg nice rooms, but it's all grls (2 closets and a shared sink room). high/low rises=not impressive...similar to dickson.

so which ones have singles? is it only dickson and balch that have single rooms?

no court and mews does for sure...and i believe all or at least MOST have singles...

court or mews would be sooooo nice

so how many people share a bathroom on average

i heard 4-5 ppl share bathroom on ave . pjv,

So if I don't want to live in one of the themed houses and the townhouses, I have no control over which hall I'll be assigned to.

Has anyone noticed the room area discrepancies? a Court Double: 11'6" * 16'0" = 184 sq ft/ On the other hand, a DICKSON double: 14'5" * 18'0"
261 sq. ft!!
261-184 = 77 square feet! If we're paying the same 6080 price, why such a huge diff ? The area difference is about 8.77 * 8.77 feet = 76.9 ft^2

I put "social in nature" and "messy"

I said i "can't study with background noise" and want a "neat/clean roommie"

I figure they won't be able to match me with anyone and will just HAVE to give me that single i requested ;)

There's more square feet in Dickson, but Mews and Court are nicer, less people per bathroom, air conditioning, wired for cable (if that matters to you, I don't think I'm getting cable in my room), and it's pretty new.

I'd like to be in Mews or Court. . . .I wonder what answers on the survey will get you into Mews or Court. . . .probably studious environment, not because it's not social, but because I've heard that some of the other dorms are insane and never go to sleep. Maybe if check both boxes, I'll be set.

After seeing some people's dorm rooms at cornell. . . .i think i'm pretty neat. . .lol. . .i didn't used to think so! lol.

sparticus, good thinking..i should have done that. but since i'm a transfer, i hope they'll just put me into a single in the transfer center.

yeah sparty, those contradictory answers FULL of paradoxes will make you seem like an oddball, and even if the residential ppl can MATCh you with someone, but explains that to your potential roomie, he will probably say " oh no, thanks, let sparty HAVE his single!" you know, perceiving you as a difficult roommate to get along with.

I on the other hand, due to financial restraints, have no choice but take a double, or even worse, a TRIPLE. I want to skimp on the $500 (I don't suppose $500 goes a long way in ithaca, but it's still money saved) , but don't know if it's worth it , with the few square feet added to triple and sharing closets with two other roommates (only two closets in a triple). My parents say they'll let me take a double or quad though. both are cool, probably gonna put down double tonight. four ppl might be two noisy an environment to study well.

many kids just study in the library. I think thats a good idea, it creates an academic atmosphere automatically
