D still waiting to hear from musical theatre program. SU typically has three waves of notifications starting around March 12 and going through til the end of March. They almost always come out on Fridays. These can be acceptances and rejections so don’t think the worst if you haven’t heard. March 26 is only three days from now!

Still waiting and I’m in NY. SU got my midyear report only a few weeks ago, though I’m still worried that I haven’t heard. I applied for Newhouse, and then CAS for my 2nd choice and Whitman for my 3rd.

im waiting too and my guidance counselor said it probably means youre waitlisted

How do they notify? Email, or do you have to go on their website?

email. but its probably why we are the last wave

I called Syracuse today. They said anytime within the next month…

Ugh…

Within the next month? So April? Wait… we aren’t going to have to wait till May…right…? I thought it was going to come in March.

anyone have any thoughts on this? maybe there is an adm. counselor on cc tonight who can shed some light on this question…

by this time in the admissions process for kids who were EA deferred and still waiting for their decision…is it reasonable to assume most acceptances have been sent out and only a few of the remaining students will receive acceptance notices? do EA deferred students actually receive an acceptance on the very last day- April 1?

thanks for your thoughts

Going by previous years threads there have been acceptances all the way to the end of March and there have been acceptances off of the waitlist (if that should be the fate of some of you) all the way up to the end of May. So it ain’t over until its over folks!!

does everyones myslice account have an admission acceptance form even if you havent heard yet?

I think Syracuse looks at the candidate as a whole and maybe that’s why the application process takes longer for people like us. Location doesn’t matter because someone from my school was admitted to CAS a couple of weeks ago. I am still waiting (applied dual CAS/Newhouse). Hope to get good news Friday!

I sent in my application on Dec. 5th. My best friend sent hers in on Dec. 31st and apparently didn’t send in the supplement. She was accepted 2 weeks ago and I’m still waiting. I thought it was supposed to be rolling? Her grades are lower than mine and she has less extracurricular activities than me. I applied to Whitman. I also did an interview around mid December. I seriously don’t know what is going on…

My D applied to Whitman also and hasn’t heard back yet. She completed her application mid November, though it took her guidance counselor a long time to send in the transcript and counselor recc! She also had an interview. I believe it was in Oct. There are a number of people who applied to Whitman who haven’t heard back yet on this board. Anyway hang in there!!

Can I recap what I think I am reading? It looks like there are a number of students who have not heard anything from Syracuse (my daughter included). Apparently there are waves of notifications that go out primarily on Friday evenings. What I don’t see a consensus on is whether the late notificiations are just waitlists or rejections or whether there is still hope for acceptances (obviously, I am hoping for the latter, but want to be realistic). Any certainty on this? Thanks.

I personally have no idea what is going on, but maybe I can try to
help…from this, and past years, it seems that those who are receiving scholarships and who are accepted into their first choice program are notified first in RD (usually the Friday before SU spring break starts-this year that was Friday, March 12th)…in addition, it appears that for this year, specifically, the early admits included those who were further away from SU (In order for them to make plans to fly in for accepted students day, I imagine?)

No idea how this will progress though…it is possible that later acceptances are/will be for 2nd or 3rd choice majors or waitlists into 1st choice majors…

one thing that I do know for sure is that SU is aggressively trying to expand it’s geographic reach (article in The Daily Orange this week) and, specifically stated that they would like to reduce the incoming freshman class coming from the northeast from about 75% of the class to 70%…

My D also has not heard from Syracuse yet. I spoke to the admissions office on Monday and they told me that they do admissions in batches and each batch has acceptances and rejections. So not having heard yet does not automatically mean rejection. Although, trying to be realistic, I realize that a number of slots have already been filled and wonder how many are left. They told me her file had recently gone to committee and she should be hearing within a week to a week and 1/2. So hopefully not too much longer - good luck to everyone still waiting!

My daughter has not heard yet either. I spoke to admissions yesterday and they seemed to confirm what people have been saying here. There are more RD notifications (acceptances and rejections) coming until the end of March, mostly on Fridays. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

For those who are still waiting to hear – My daughter’s financial aid portfolio was up this morning and it said, “congratulations …”
Log-in to my slice if you haven’t heard yet.

Oh, iliketocook. Thanks so much for the tip – I got into myslice and saw the same thing on the financial aid portfolio.

still nothing
