I'm actually self-motivating. I've been working on my college search/apps by myself for the past 4-6 months. My parents have actually told me to take time off of the search, but I'm just too stressed/eager to get it done that I can't.

I have about half of my applications done and about half to do.

Well, I haven't finished Princeton and Harvard yet, but I'm just waiting on inspiration for my optional essay then I'll be done. Hopefully I'll submit in 2 weeks or so.

Oh, i've filled out a lot of the stuff, but I have not done a lot of the major parts. Like the essays or the academic honor parts. I am still unsure exactly which schools I'm going to be applying to. I have a list, but I'm not 100% sure.

I started my Early Apps last thursday, and i'm not planning on starting my regulars until christmas break! If you are a quick writer, no worries.

You shouldn't HAVE to spend 4-6 months on writing your essays unless you are editing them beyond belief. Just put aside a weekend, disconnect from the internet, lock yourself in a room somewhere and write all your rough drafts.
Then edit them to death.

It didn't take me 4-6 months to start writing my essays - it actually has taken me less than a week to do my essay portion. Rather over the summer I started the college search, trying to decide which schools I was interested in and so forth. I agree, as long as you're not applying Early Decision or Early Action, you should be fine starting later.
