who hates writing essays?

i would have posted this in the college section but i think most topics there are about asking people to proof read essays. Anyways it seems like every class in college has an essay or research paper, i personally hate them. You spend a lot of time researching, writing, and revising it to have one person read it and grade it. Sometimes i think writing essays are useless, so anyone else hate writing papers? especially those 20 plus pages ones

I do.

Fa sho fa sho

Never had a 20 plus page one. I would petition it.

I really hate writing papers.I am thinking of dropping a course just because I was required to write 2 essays throughout the semester.

I don't mind them. They're better than having a lot of tests. You have all the notes and books right in front of you. Although, my essays are for my poli sci and econ classes, so they are only graded for correct facts and logical reasoning, and not style (although some structure is generally expected from us).

Last semester, I had to write 3 20-30 page papers back-to-back during finals. That was a rather unpleasant experience.

20 page papers are child's play :P

I would MUCH rather write a 5 page weekly paper than do a much shorter weekly problem set. Plus, I want to write a thesis so the more I write, the more practice I get.

i also especially hate doing the works cited page and those teachers that are so anal about everything that every detail has to be correct. I also don't like those teachers that no matter how hard you try, they still won't give you a decent grade for trying. I had this english teacher once, at a CC, wow for the first transferable level of college english, she taught it like a university upper college level. First there was a four page essay, then 6 page, then 8-10 page research paper that starts right after the 6 page and the research paper has it own syllabus that was like 5 pages and you have to follow all these steps. Also you have t do a visual aid presentation on what your research was about. And then there was a in class essay for midterm, and an in class essay for final. And every night for homework read 40 pages and wrote a page summary. Other teachers don't have midterms and the research paper was the final. I only signed up for the class cause it was the earliest one i can get and it had one spot left and it started at 3:15 to 5:30 and the teacher kept us there the whole time and only allowed us 8 hours of absense. Also the school makes you take a English lab for an hour a week but for no credit and it doesn't show on your transcript. I still don't get those 20 page papers though, all the time and energy

Ooh I love writing essays.

Dragondawg- is it bad that your description of your hard class sounds easy to me? :P What's your major? I'm a social science major and that's pretty common.. except the final paper would be 20-30 pages.

I was a history major and had to do papers all the time. I never minded it, other then when they backed up. I wrote a 21 page paper on Thomas Paines use of reason, I think that stands as my hardest undergrad paper. Truth be told, I always liked doing papers because when you finished you had something that you could be proud of...

Also if you want to avoid a lot of writting, avoid law school.

:) :) :) :)

Citationmachine makes the world go 'round...but essays are better than formal lab reports, that's for sure.

I've stopped using Citation Machine. Writing citations comes with practice; eventually, you'll memorize the structure, etc.

well i guess some professors love reading 20-20 page papers
