Who here applied ED?

Don’t you guys think that… since they’ve made decisions about lsp they’ve made decisions about accepted/rejected too? I mean there’s a bigger difference in stats for accepted and rejected than lsp to either one… and since they don’t have to print out a whole bunch of acceptance/rejection letters this year… maybe they’ll send it sooner? hopefully? :S

i hope so, winniehuang! AGH SO NERVOUS. now that decision time approaches i’m basically starting to doubt every part of my application.

Elocin777 has way better stats than me and he got into freaking LSP! Now I have no shot at Stern :frowning: My heart literally just dropped and fell out my ass
**** this. I’m sending in my other applications in today! I can’t take this anymore!

Pretty sure that LSP is the opposite of what someone posted previously. This is from the NYU website

Liberal Studies is an opportunity for highly qualified students to attend NYU by entering the University as freshmen…

Students are not able to apply directly to LS. The NYU Admissions Committee selects a limited number of highly qualified students from the pool of applicants to NYU’s four-year bachelor’s programs for admission to LS. Students who are eligible to be considered for admission to the Liberal Studies Program will be notified by the NYU Admissions Committee.

I’m by no means saying that students accepted into LSP is not highly qualified, but generally the stats of those accepted into LSP are lower than the stats of accepted students. If you go search around the forum, you’ll see that that is true. Furthermore, you will see many people saying things like “I think you’ll be LSPed because of those low SATs” or “A slight reach… I think maybe LSP”.

Edit: And also, whether a program is open to applications or directly selected by the admissions committee does not determine it’s selectivity.

What’s LSP?

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

go to the Anyone Heard From NYU EDI thread and look for the comment by hayleyelisa on page 3, it describes it well. or just search the thread theres tons of info about it from students in it.

Wow everyone who’s posted stats and got LSP are around the same as/better than me  gah this is so nerve wracking!

How competitive is NYU? =/

Would they ever accept a GPA as low as 3.2-4 coupled with other AMAZING stats?

@jbubbles depends on which school…I could see Tisch LSPing someone like that if the other stats were AMAZING. I’d guess that anybody with a gpa that low would go to LSP but you never know.

When I say other amazing stats, I mean 2300+/ 7 SAT 2 700s+ with a few 750+/ AP Bio (5), AP LIT (5), AP Physics B (5), AP Psych (5), APUSH (4)/couple speech and debate awards/ 26 hr weekly job (since frosh year)/ beautiful essays/science research with maybe Seimens semi’s/good-excellent recs/filing for a couple patents/700 hrs community service (starting youth education program at temple/nursing home/tutoring/other random things).

I think that’s it. I learned a lot from my mistakes and want them to know that and want them to see my rather low grades and upward trend as a way I matured throughout highschool rather than questioning my intelligence/comprehension.

Oh, and no, I’m not applying to Tisch. I’m applying to CAS.

Wow I think you have a very good chance! You have amazing test scores and alot of ECs. The upward trend would definitely help you. Besides a 3.3 GPA isn’t extremely low and I think your SATs offset that anyways. Good luck!

I just received word from my hopefully future coach at NYU… I got a likely stamped on my application to Stern :))))))))))))))

^justspice

I applied ED for Stern as well. can you tell your stats so I can know what it takes to be “likely”?
Thanks

omg these people getting accepted by LSP is freaking me out!! omg im so scared!! this doesnt mean i should lose hope right?!

windy214 - they don’t stamp a likely/unlikely for non athlete applicants, but my stats are 2170 SAT (780 CR, 690 M, 700 W), 32 ACT (36R, 35E, 27M, 28S), 3.67 UW with a 4.0 junior year. Not spectacular, and I’m sure that if I wasn’t being recruited I wouldn’t have gotten in.

CONGRATS!!!
NYU gives out likelies?

They don’t, but the head coach of my sport called and said my application has an A+ on it, which means likely admit.
