calc are long questions, sat is just a small step, the usual step that kills your answer.

I think SATs are crap - the real way to get a good score on the SAT is not by knowing the material but by knowing how the SAT works. Knowing the method in which they ask the questions is a huge part of it.

I got a 650 on the Math section (and 660 on the Math I subject test) and I got A's in Math (and currently an A in AP Calculus) and I got accepted into University of Pittsburgh full tuition along with a $16,000 engineering scholarship.

All of this is to say- a "bad" SAT score is not the end of everything for those wanting to get into engineering.

All the SATs test is your ability to take the SAT. Take a prep course (contractually obligated to recommend Kaplan here...) and get the points you need to do what you want. I wouldn't say grade inflation is a sure thing, it may just be that you suck at standardized tests, so you need someone to show you a few strategies to get through a required part of engineering school admissions.

above 600 math sat is fine, you can still do ok in engineering and graduate. If you have like 400, then you shouldn't be in engineering.

^^ anyone with a 400 wont be in this section of the website. LOL.

btw, the only engineering students i know are from my school. They are very rare.

Really? Engineering students are rare? I always thought there were a good number of them, but then again, I don't actually know any engineers :-/

<confused>...
There are a ton of engineering students out there, so I don't really know what greenvision's talking about...</confused>

tonnes? the american or british unit? Guys, let me make it simple,

You walk down the street, you see a 19-21 year old looking guy with a school bag or w/e, what are the chances of him NOT (repeat NOT) being a liberal arts student?

1 / 1000 i guess. Engineers are definitely scarce.

Well, it just depends on the group of which you are apart. I have a black '98 Trans Am. :-) So, I'm a car guy. I know car guys, and several of them are, naturally, mechanical engineers. But, in greenvision's scenario, I suppose the odds could be that high since you're taking into consideration someone at random.

are you saying you know mechanical engineers or technicians?

Mechanical Engineers.

1/1000th? I'd say the actual number is probably 1 in 20.

spot on with the car guy stereotype. On car forums, it's like everyone that went to college at all is an engineer.

sarcasm, Lumin, is the best substitute for real knowledge. then again i could be wrong =

I would say also that actual engineers may be scarce (relative to people of other professions), but there seems to be plenty of engineering majors.

Also, I got a 157 on the SAT Math if that makes you feel any better (;))

751? dyslexic? My feelings no longer exist btw. I am a hollow shell of a man.

No, I was saying 157 to try and make her feel better. I didn't actually get a 751 nor am I dyslexic. It isn't even possible to get a 751- the scores are in multiples of 10. It is sad that humor does not always transfer over the internet.

Are you calling me a girl now? wow real mature...

Ummm, I didn't even relaize that you were the same person that started the thread. So I guess I was trying to make you feel better, although it seems as if you do not care anymore...

Even after I called myself a hollow shell of a man, you insisted on calling me a girl. If your math score was 157, your verbal score was probably about 10.

I did not know that you were the same person that started the thread, as I said before. I assumbed the thread starter was a girl (the topic seemed as if it would have been started by a female), and did not realize that you, the GUY, was that person. Goodness sakes, Yoisser is right- you do sound wimpy. And for your information, The first time I took the SATs I got a 680 on verbal, then second time 730. For math, 1st time I got a 660 then a 710.
