Also I've only been to 1 real life party since 8th grade, and 3 parties since 6th (implying that I went to 2 in 7th).

we only have a senior prom at my school so raises hand

i've never been to a single dance, middle school or high school, and never plan on it. =)

i spent last year's prom in DC rallying for Darfur. So much better than buying a dress I'll never use and being surrounded by a bunch of (drunk) people I don't like.

We only have a senior prom and two promotional dances (elementary->JHS, and JHS->HS). The promotional dances were the only ones I've been to (because I'm still a Junior). There've been other non-school-run parties (Sweet 16s, Halloween Parties, Holiday Parties) I've been to, but not a lot (<20). I plan on making senior prom my 3rd school-run party I attend.

That's so admirable, given that most "well-rounded" people go to prom anyways. I thought that those who didn't go to prom were social misfits (like myself).

who needs prom, anyways

It's overrated as college admissions are.

"i spent last year's prom in DC rallying for Darfur"

That's amazing. I wish I could do that. Instead I'm stuck going to prom with a guy I don't like at all... and I'm dreading it so, so, much. Trust me, Inquiline, I envy you...

Well, prom is junior/senior at my school, but it won't be for another two weeks. I don't know if I'll go this year, but I definitely will go next year.

I've been to all of our homecomings and then I went to the freshmen mixer on the first day of school, but that's really it.

My school's dances SUCK, on the most part. So I'm really not missing too much.

I've never been to a school dance and won't, unless someone asks me to one and it really, really means a lot to him that we actually go to the dance. (I'll ask, "Do you want to go to the dance, or do you just want to go on a date with me and the dance was the most convenient thing?") I went to an alternative, not-affiliated-with-ASB dance on homecoming night. It was so alternative, it was held at the public library.

I had my first birthday party (with friends, rather than with family) this year. :D

hemingway, plan on dancing in college?

the replies to this thread only implements my knowledge of the type of people at CC.............people who are awesome like me! lol :D

me ive naver been prom..i personally dont like that kinda stuff and to be honest i dont have many friends..

good grief how many people here are, quoting inquiline, "social misfits" i.e. people who aren't exactly your typical high school student, (the slacker, partyer etc...)

I stayed home and played video games with my friends during my 8th grade prom. No regrets.

Skipping Junior/Senior prom for Model UN!

w00t.

No prom...my school is lame, i'm a soph but they're thinking of cancelling it for juniors next year and seniors next year (they put it on the tuesday and wednesday before AP exams---great idea, folks!)

In terms of partying...not so much. Haven't been to a "real" party since like 8th grade when I was with really great friends. I've mostly hosted the parties in high school I've been at. Dances-my school cancelled them for some crazy reason, but I really like them, which surprises people. I am a party animal at heart!

I've actually gone to all the school dances from grades 10-12. In 9th grade, I wore my absence from those events on my sleeve as some sort of nerd cred. Then I got a boyfriend and decided that abstaining from fun does not make me any more scholarly, geeky, or admirable.

Well, at least, considering that I was spending the dance-less nights doing nigh on nothing, instead of protesting or some such. That is admirable.

Just_Browsing - I will if asked. :) I must say, my BU friend and I had planned on bringing her as my date, if all else decidedly fails!

hemingway, how did you become aqainted with these protests and such that you are/were involved in? just word of mouth? is there a favorite website that lists some (the ones i look up online all the time never seem to end up working/taking place)
