Who here has never gone to a single prom?

Not yet, but I will.

I don't know, some Asian parties can be fun.

...the ones with the cute Asian boys anyway.

But yeah, I'll admit that most of them tank.

I have to help plan prom cause of Student Government. I'm terrified no one will come.

I have never been to a prom or dance but I have gone to the after parties.

Went to IB prom because someone asked me last year. Most awkward night of my life, or at least top five. I'm not a dancer/feel embarrassed with physical contact/am a loser?

I remember my eighth grade formal. My mom was out of town, and when I put on the dress I realized how ugly it was. So I sat sobbing in the car, refusing to come out, and I got my way. It was spoiled of me, but I don't regret not going.

I wonder what the turnout will be when it comes to high school reunion.

I skipped my prom and went to a Pittsburgh Pirates game (a win with two home runs) instead. No big deal at all. Saved a boatload of cash.

A few months later I was having an intense heart to heart conversation with one of my friends, and she told me that nobody will ever care that you missed your prom--that it was one night out of thousands and that I did something enjoyable.

I also skipped every homecoming because I didn't want to be involved in the fiasco of dating. Same deal with eighth grade semiformal. The senior dinner dance was a "no date required" one and after skipping every formal dance I finally went to that one. People thought it was some sort of joke at first when I showed up. After all, I didn't go all out with a limo like some people and instead showed up in a 17 year old car. After the dance I had somewhere to go anyway so I needed to bring my car, but it looked sort of funny to have parents shiny new cars and some limos surrounding my ancient beast.

I kept a low profile during "asking out" season, which was unusual for me, a normally outgoing guy voted one of the 20 most popular people in the class. After watching some of my friends fail at romance at such a young age, and watching dates lead to more (and later the consequences of young love) I elected not to do any of them except the last one. I estimate that I saved close to $1000, maybe more, from not attending them.

As far as high school reunion--I WILL be there. If the class president fails to plan it, I am going to be the one who organizes it.

I like that you chose to do something more worthwhile with your time. I wish I had followed your example.
