I havent done the profile yet, but the only thing i got from other schools was $3500 per year stafford loan. Should I even bother doing the css profile, or assume Im not getting anything besides loans?

Yea, my parents are VERY picky about the money lol...especially because Holy Cross is giving me the exact same financial aid package but their tuition/fees is $4,000 less...I really wanna go to Tufts though!

Same problem here. Tufts offered a $1400 annual grant and a few thousand in loans and work-study. At $50,000 cost per year, we could afford 1.5 years before running out of money. D loved Tufts, but going into debt for the rest of our lives is not an option. She has accepted a generous offer from the University of Delaware Honors Program instead. Hope you all fare better than we did.

What is the tuition nowadays? When I first entered it hovered around 31k or so and just went up every year...

Tufts was very generous to me, so I'm def planning to go there next year!!

Everyone, the "unofficial aid package" is up online at TAMS! I just checked mine, and I must say I am thoroughly moved by how much they gave me. WAY WAY WAY Better than BC or any other colleges I was considering. Hopefully, this "unofficial package" stays!!!

i got about 28k, but that is nothing compared to the 51k that brandeis gave me.

I got 20k/semester, 40k/year. That works out to my family paying about $11,500/year. It's like going to a state school!

Yea, for me, it's cheaper than going to a state school! :D

Ya it's kind of paradoxical when my friend paid less than 10k a year for Tufts when I was shelling out 45-50k. That was a little unfair :)

nothing..............0.......................i am crushed

my dream school

what happens to money given out to people who do not accept?????

also would tufts care if i wrote them a letter about my special circumstances?

I'm so pleased that most of the posters seem to have found their award to be 'fair.' I'd be interested to hear from those of you who received your packages, is the award what you expected? Does it put Tufts in the ballpark for your family? Praise and criticism will be appreciated.

For Wishing Waiting, and those like Wishing Waiting, if you feel the award is disconnected with the reality of what your family can pay, I would encourage you to get in touch with the Financial Aid office - especially if 'special circumstances' are involved.

Financial Aid at Tufts is not (REPEAT NOT) a negotiation. Getting an award from another school will not, by itself, alter your award at Tufts. But your award can be recalculated if we are operating with an incomplete picture. It might be possible to submit additional information that will change our calculation of what your family can afford to pay.

I know that the Aid office is committed to doing what they can to making Tufts affordable for every family. Obviously, they work within certain constraints, but they really do want to help you if they can.

Well, the financial aid package that I received definitely made Tufts affordable for us (even more affordable than my state school, surprisingly!), but it's going to be pretty hard because of all the other bills my parents have to pay. My question is how my parents are going to pay off the $8300 that the financial aid doesn't cover...Should/Will we be able to schedule an appointment with a financial aid counselor any time soon to talk about how to pay the tuition (i.e. like using a combination of a PLUS loan and the 10 month payment plan or other ways to reduce monthly payments?) Because my parents can't just shell out 3000-4000 bucks each semester....

Either way, I'm so excited for next year! :D

ok so i am very confused, if anyone could answer this question it would be greatly appreciated

i received a letter today saying i have been selected as a University Scholar and that thus all loans in my financial aid package will be turned into loans......but i didn't get any financial aid....so what does this mean? am i missing something?

thanks

It means you should call to see what's going on.

I'm still anxiously waiting for my Financial Aid Package. I have been trying to sign onto TAMS all day, but for some reason it won't let me. Is it down for some reason or is mine just not working?

Ok, so I finally got through, and I got my package. I received very generous merit aid from Tufts and some Federal and State Merit Aid as well. My ECP was also only $3500. But even with my merit aid, I'm still about $25,000 short, and I wasn't offered any loans. How can that be?

I think the aid package is very fair for my family, and I'm getting a lot more from Tufts than Rochester and Northeastern.

Does financial aid adjust to tuition increases each year? Does tufts decrease aid over the years?

Yes

Assuming that your family's tax returns stay identical over the years, Tufts will increase aid from year to year.
