They are better than many prep schools in some of their sports. For example, for the 07-08 season, their varsity football team went 8-0-1... I'd say that's pretty good.

They send many of their athletes to division 1 and division 3 universities.

Some of their sports are very good. I never said the school is an athletic powerhouse.

I have to fill out all of the applications. Thats it. I took the SSAT and gave the schools my grades. It wasn't my fault I was so late. My parents finally agreed to look into schools two months ago. Most of the schools I'm applying to have room. Only two I'm applying to I would have to hope someone decides to not go to the school.

MDog795:
do you really wanna go to a christian/catholic school being jewish? im jewish too, so i never even considered any of those schools. i dont know, even though im not that religious, i just wouldnt feel comfortable in a place that somewhat revolves around christianity and the teachings of it, you know?

The Gunnery is a wonderful school with a small, nurturing community - the staff cares very much about each student, and ensures their education and experience is stellar. There are many fine matriculations from the Gunnery as well. (Although I do not attend there, I know students who have loved it and done VERY well there and in the college setting).

randi517: While I know that it would be kind of uncomfortable in the beginning to be a Jewish boy in a pretty much Christian school, I would be fine with that. It might actually help me learn to live in a society where I'm a little different. Kent has a few Jewish kids, so in a way it would mirror the number of Christians compared to Jews. I can't always stay in a small Jewish circle because there are so many more oppurtunities. Sooner or later, all Jews must come to a fact that we are minorities and need to live in places where there are not many of us too.

also,
kent gives you the opportunity to go into town and practice your religion.
so there are chances for people of several religions to go to kent and not be forced to go to christian chapel on sunday.

MDog795:
yeah, i guess it makes sense. i mean, i live in a town where there is a church every two blocks, so im used to it too. as long as the school is what fits you.

Well minority doesn't mean you can't have anyone else of similar values and belief systems. I'm going to Exeter next fall and take a republican stance. While there will be some people with like core beliefs as me, there will be a ton more who support the democratic view point. I want this challenge since it won't be like I am a fish out of water; I will just have a larger audience to defend my side to. Just saying, don't go to a christian/catholic school just for a inner competition to see if you can tough it out. You can have 'allies' with you and still be doing something that will cause a struggle AND hopefully, you will come out fighting strong.

Sportincounty: I see what you mean, definitely. I don't want to see me fighting who I am and what my religion is. That said, I also don't want to be in like a totally Jewish friendship circle, which will probably never happen at kent. I'm not a very religious person, so I don't think this matter will be too much of an issue.

kent is better than a lot of schools!!!! it's also more nurturing than a lot of schools like SPS, Andover, Exeter! I kind of regret not going there...

Kent is the opponent on Deerfield Parents Day in September. How about it.....if just for one afternoon you become a "lesser school" and give us Deerfield parents something to cheer about on September 27th.
