My letter came in early December!

Also, Sewanee sends an acceptance envelope that says “The ‘big envelope’ from… SEWANEE”

Good luck to everyone hearing tomorrow/in the next few days!

How fun. We’ll be stalking the mailbox hoping for one of those Big Envelopes. Sewanee is DD’s first choice. Of course we have to see what kind of money comes as well, but the first step is the getting in!

Daughter received acceptance letter yesterday and notification of being a semifinalist for Merit Scholars Weekend; she does have to write three short essays by next Friday in order to go on to the next step in the Merit Weekend competition. I wonder how many received such notification of potential Merit Weekend - I know the top 100 are invited, but did not know about this additional step. Sewanee is stunningly beautiful.

Yay! DD got in. She did get a scholarship, but no Merit weekend invite. Congrats to those who did!

Nothing in the mail today… I hope that is not a bad sign…

BCWatty, are essays for Scholars Weekend due Friday 1/27 or 2/3?

Hey, DD got the Big Envelope with the small scholarship - no invitation to the Scholar’s weekend - but we are excited. She will wait and see what other schools say in April, but is leaning heavily toward Sewanee. Loved her visit.

DS got deferred to RD. Wow. His stats:

GPA: 3.3/4.2
Class rank: 31/499
ACT: 33
SAT: CR: 770/M 610

WOW is right winnieroot. Worried about my daughters now…

tennesseedad, essays fr Merit Weekend are due this Friday, January 27th. D has been out of town and is having to scramble to get it done - which, I suppose, is part of the process. A couple of very esoteric questions posed, which should be quite interesting. D has 3.96 unweighted GPA and 4.7 weighted GPA with 32 on the ACT.

Thank you BCWatty. I thought D1 had a good shot at Merit Weekend, but since she does not have a letter I guess not. D1 ACT 33, unweighted 3.75 gpa, 6 AP classes (three complete 5,4,4), strong EC.

My D just got her EA letter today…She’s in! Thrilled. The perfect fit for her. We celebrate tonight.

I also didn’t mention:IB student, AP scores: 5,4,5. Lowest ACT score is a 30 in math. Perfect score in English on the PSAT. A letter from his counselor explaining that he is top of his IB class. A rec from their recent Tennessee Williams playwrite in residence, who wrote a special lead part for him in a recent play, visit to campus…

Thankfully, not his first choice.

winner… I can totally relate to how you are feeling… my S has yet to hear from Sewanee… but he has been deferred from three seemingly safety schools and his ED school already. He has 2200 SAT’s with a 790 CR, 3.6 GPA from a top 50 private prep, rigorous course load. He is an Eagle Scout, National scouting position, has 1500 hrs community service, internship with national park this past summer, competitive rock climber, search and rescue volunteer, rescue diver…blah, blah, blah…I tell you it has been quite a roller coaster. I am definitely not hopeful for Sewanee… I think the early admission season has been extraordinarily weird…If you need to vent further you can pm me:-))

Just went to the mailbox and DS is in!!! Texted him a photo of the “BIG ENVELOPE”… I asked him if I can open it because I want to see if he got a scholarship… I am happy he FINALLY got an acceptance… he will be thrilled!! We live in CA… so that helped I’m sure. This is one if his top contenders.

Congrats drooler, 5boys, Bogney, and CalmlyiChaotic!

S got a merit scholarship but didn’t get invited to the merit weekend…shucks!! I was hoping to get to visit this beautiful campus next month… I guess we will have to wait till accepted students day…SOOO happy and grateful for the scholarship he got though.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy Both daughters accepted with a merit scholarship (no scholars weekend though). Sewanee is by far one daughters top preference. (She wears a Sewanee hoodie every other day) The other is still undecided.

Congrats to both tennesseedad! A good friend of mine got in today as well, but he’s still deciding if he wants to go to Sewanee or Wake.
