Who is Applying ED?

Eastcoastkid3, if you’re thinking about applying early just because you think you’ll have better chances, then don’t. If you love NU, then apply early. Medill is pretty much considered the best journalism school, you are correct. As for visiting, if you have the resources/time to go, you should, but I didn’t go. Demonstrated interest can also be shown through applying ED, and the Why NU essay will also show how much you want to go to NU. I wouldn’t worry about it if you don’t think you can get there.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who hasn’t started the supplement. People in the High School Class of 2014 have already finished their Common App essays and I feel so behind

Ive written my common app essay and Apply Texas ones, haven’t started the Why Northwestern?

You have until November 1st. That’s 2 and a half-ish months. You don’t need to have any of this done yet. Take it slow, and make sure that you don’t rush it. You should however ask for recommendations pretty soon so that they have plenty of time.

Is the northwestern supplement a 250 word maximum?

Lmao my mom wanted me to ED to Penn too. But **** that ****, NU engineering has a lot more support. And a current penn student said don’t come to penn if you want to do engineering!

But maybe the ED to Penn wouldn’t have been a bad idea, this extra Month where all my friends left for college is killing me

This is my first post on CC, but I had to comment being stuck somehow between similar decisions as a lot of you. I also thinkkk I want to apply early to Northwestern, but worry passing up UPENN ED with legacy is what most would consider crazy. I’m planning on taking a visit up to chicago in early October to hopefully come to a final decision.

Adezar, we don’t go back next year until even later, unless you get an apartment, counsel for a pre-orientation program, become a CA/PA, etc.

If you love NU, apply ED. If it’s the only school you want to go to, apply ED. Otherwise, don’t.

This guy is most likely applying ED! I’m visiting next Friday, but it’s pretty much a formality, since I’m fairly certain NU is where I want to go.

My daughter is applying ED. I am on this site to find reasons to talk her out of it and haven’t found any so far. She has her heart set on NU and won’t look at anything else if NU takes her. Reasons - she was born in Chicago and has memories of Northwestern from the time I went there. Absolutely loves Chicago and considers it home forever. Loves Lake Michigan and the million miles of beaches on it. Thinks she has a better shot through ED and would like nothing better than to be back in Chicago at a school that has high reputation and is in mid-west. Definitely prefers Illinois over NY, PA and CA.

also applying ED! i’m going to visit in two weeks and i’m really excited. my first choice is to major in journalism at medill, and my second choice is rtvf. its a reach for me, but its my absolute dream. how are everyones apps going so far?

i am having so much trouble with the why northwestern! I know everything i want to say but i just want to make it perfect because i want to attend so badly.

Texasteen, I wouldn’t worry to much about making it perfect, because often “perfect” really just means robotic, at least in my experience. Read it back and if it says what you want it to say, and it sounds like you, it’s good (although make sure you’ve got as much grammar/spelling proofing as possible. It’s not a major thing, but why not make sure it’s perfect in that manner).

Just applied! …waiting begins…

Hmm. I’ve almost submitted my common app. I just keep doubling over my main essay… Hey on the portion of the application that asks if I got an application fee waiver from NU, am i supposed to call them about that or do i just say yes and handle it later?

Did you actually get an application fee waiver from NU? If so, you can mark Yes.

No. but when i went searching to figure out how to get one i read that i would have already filled out the required information in my common app but i can’t see where in the process that’s possible

I am applying ED to Weinberg, I actually can’t wait to hit the submit button on my Common App so that I can just relax for a month and a half until decisions come in :)

All the best all ED students! You would love it once you are there! My kid loves it there! By the way, when is the ED deadline and when do the ED results come out?
