Also guys here is a trick for you! Schedule Alumni interviews. It shows that you have interest in this school. From a pile of thousands of applications, a few 100 would have extra notes from Alumni interviews. It goes a long way in the process!

Alum interviews might not be in your area but don’t worry. I started to flip out when I realized that they couldn’t give me one given my location but the rep reassured me by telling me that the interview isn’t so much of a deciding factor in a the application process. She said that its actual purpose is to allow prospective students to get to know NU better.

Does anyone know how to schedule an interview?

Call northwestern, and they’ll try to find one in your area. Then they will give you the phone number of an alumni, and then you call them. I had mine Saturday!

I got an e-mail today that they began reviewing my application and that I would find out BY mid-December. Does that mean I could find out possibly within the next month? I’m just so anxious!! And I also applied ED to Medill :)

I can almost guarantee you will find out the 12th or 13th of December. My reasoning is

That’s around when it was last year (the end of the quarter)

If they get it out right as they hit vacation, they don’t have to deal with the stress of replying to inquiries about people’s decisions

The RD last year was ALSO at the end of a quarter (winter quarter), further proving the end of the quarter idea

I just wanted to say “Hello!” to everyone here applying ED. I’m submitting my application on Tuesday or Wednesday (I’m still having trouble with writing my supplement). Good luck to all :)

I finally tossed my application into the flaming coal pit that is academia. I can’t decide whether I should make a “chance me” thread or cry a little. Maybe I’ll do both. Good luck to all Medill applicants!

Has anyone who submitted ED through Common App received a confirmation email directly from Northwestern. Submitted on 10/30, no response yet from NU. Also submitted EA to a
few other schools through Common App. Have received e-mail confirmations directly from the other schools but nothing from Northwestern. Wondering if I should call the administration?

@curious2014 I received an email maybe 1 1/2 weeks after submission! I also called the school when I hadn’t heard anything and they told me I had all my materials.

Thanks…all these Common App 4 problems have me concerned. Some of my schools show that they didn’t receive my counselor and school report which also means my transcripts but it was all inout and on the app.

I am going to visit the campus and have the interview next weekend! Although I’ve already submitted my ED application I heard that they would still take notes on interview-is that true? Will the interview/campus tour help with my chance?

If anything, the interview can and will only boost your chances. Good Luck!

Like Texasteen said, the email for confirmation that they received your application can take up to two weeks, so it will be a while before you hear back. If you’re missing some section for some reason, NU will email you and give you a sufficient amount of time to get it in.

The interview and campus tour probably won’t make a significant difference, but they could boost your application a little bit. It’s mostly just more information for you, and it will definitely make you love NU more ;)

Good ton know! Thanks gonna visit the campus in a few days, so excited!

Random fact: Tour guides will tell you near Deering Library that we were once known as the Fighting Methodists. In reality, a University Archivist was interviewed and said there are no records of NU ever being called that, officially, or unofficially. The more you know

Relief. Confirmation letter received today.

Is anyone else applying ED to SESP? Hopefully sending in my application tomorrow night :)

I got an email saying they got my application and that they will contact me if I am missing anything late november. Then I got another email saying my application is complete and under review. Does this mean all my materials are in and I didn’t forget anything?

I’m guessing they mean by “complete” what everybody else means by “complete.”

You know, complete.
