Who is Applying ED?

That has been the trend, and it’s good for boosting stats (One of Morty’s priorities right now). It creates a higher yield rate which makes it look like more kids pick NU, and it also makes sure a lot of students are super excited about NU so we have a spirited class.

Oh gosh yall, around 810 will be accepted from the early round

oh my goodness…so only about 30% accepted this year? theyre not gonna do like any more? i would think that theyd try to do like more to make their stats look better. what was the acceptance rate from last year ed?

You’re basing this off of his one remark in an interview, but it’s always variable. Could decide to fill 45% of the class instead, and it’s based more student by student than it is the overall percentage they decide on. Don’t worry about what you can’t change!

thats true haha thanks…yeah i need to keep reminding myself that for like the next month haha

So, out of curiosity, how many of you are interviewing? I tried to get an interview but it didn’t work out…

I had mine about three weeks ago. Kinda awkward.

Only if the ED pool is strong enough. He doesn’t want to compromise test score and class rank (for external ranking) as well as other attributes (the adcom would probably prefer well-rounded candidates over anti-social nerds).

Chill all… I have a D that is a recent NU Grad, and a son currently enrolled - and neither interviewed. One got in RD and one ED. And neither took any SAT subject tests. Interviews and SAT Subject tests are listed as optional in the Common Data Set - and they mean that at NU.

yeah i mean i guess it always depends
yeah interviews are def optional bc i asked about them and they said it was only for ppl that wanted to know more about the school…so not like the alumni asking you questions or anything. so it basically does nothing for your app so dont worry about it at all haha

Yeah I got in Medill without taking any SAT subject tests or doing any interview.

I read somewhere on cc that the NU decision for ED applicants is emailed out a bit earlier than the advertised date of Dec. 15. How much earlier than that do they get to you? is the decision emailed or is a link with the decision emailed? super nervous about getting in…

From what I’ve seen, they usually come out between the 9th and the 13th…I can’t believe I submitted my app less than two weeks ago! It feels like it has been months…I can’t handle this waiting

yeah this is going to be the longest month of my life, at-least i have a week off for thanksgiving to help the time fly by. Dec. 9 kind of sounds early, but I hope they do send out decisions that early, I cant handle the wait.

It’ll probably be December 12th or 13th. It’s normally the Thursday or Friday the week that the quarter ends (which is what those dates are).

It would be by email right? We don’t have to check a server or anything

Yes, email it is. Good Luck!

Northwestern is too hardcore… you should’ve ED’d to a more chill laidback school like Brown.

…idt brown is that laid back lol

how do they start the letters? like either “sorry, but NW…” or “congratulations! Northwestern is pleased to accept you!” lol

I think they send you an email saying that your decision is available with a link for you to go sign in and view it, not 100% sure though
