The application form is officially out at the MIT admissions page!!!

So just wondering who is applying?

And stats if you would like, don't really matter.

Good luck on your apps!!!

That’s just 75$ guaranteed down the drain…they are so picky about their transfer students it’s not even funny. But best of luck!

lol, Ashes, didn’t you post something right below this thread about applying to Yale, Columbia, Penn, and Brown? Those are some “picky” schools themselves. That’s 300$ that you’re gambling with.

As long as you apply to a good spread of schools, it’s not “gambling” your money. Applying to any college implies some risk, and if one feels that they are competitive in the MIT transfer applicant pool, then it is well worth the money to apply.

weill pointed out lol. however mit is pretty ridiculous with their transfer admit rates. last year they admitted 8 students out of 368 applicants. 8/368= 2.1%
But, once again, if one doesnt apply, the admission ratefor them is 0 ;)

Yeah i know. Anyone should apply to anywhere if they want to. I’m not discouraging anyone from applying, but I guess I was thrown off by Ashes immediately claiming that the OP is wasting his/her money, when Ashes is applying to Yale, among other very competitive schools.

well the way i viewed it is that it’s a win win situation for me, I’m majoring in engineering and i like the current school that I’m at right now, that’s why im just throwing my app in there. If i get in then rock on!!! if not oh well apply again for fall. If i still don’t get in then just stay at my current school no big deal. 150 bucks together? A small price for a dream come true, i would say.

Lol Yeah, sorry I must’ve been thinking about MY statistics. I’m applying to all those “hard to get into schools” but the chances of me getting into MIT are like .005% and I’m not much of a gambler lol. But like I said before definitely good luck! Anyone that can get in there definitely deserves a pat on the back. In my eyes, MIT is purely about genius unlike other schools trying to fit quotas.

in fall 2008 MIT admitted 16 out of 288 students for transfer…and admit rate 5.6%

does anybody know their spring transfer rate?
