Who is applying for the class of 2013?

Colgate only does informational interviews in the fall, either on campus or with alumni in your area and by request (you have to contact them and ask for one). They don't count for or against you in any way - they're completely non-evaluative. So no, you will not be contacted about an interview.

RD 2013

luckyyy thirteen guys!

oh ok...thank you...would you recommend requesting an interview?

Informational interviews are available for those candidates who wish to learn more about Colgate and its admission process in a one-on-one setting. Informational interviews are available Monday-Friday from May through late December...

If Colgate doesn't send out any paper communications, does that mean I am accepted if I receive any mail from them now? I am an RD applicant.

You won't know if you're accepted until you get your letter at the beginning of April. They may send materials that aren't necessarily "communication" to keep you interested in the school in the hopes that if you get in, you'll attend. They just won't be informing you of anything more important/pertaining only to you until you get in (like if they got all parts of your app, the status of your app, etc.). It'll just be pretty promotional pictures and stuff.

However, I think they may send out AMS (Alumni Memorial Scholar) acceptances early, but since that's only like 150 to 200 people out of... nearly 9000, statistically I wouldn't bet on that. I also don't think they're quite this early... maybe someone who was accepted AMS RD last year can confirm the timeline on that.

Our D received an AMS letter yesterday--tried to post on CC, but the site was down. Also, we were too busy jumping up and down and shrieking. ;-)

CONGRATS!! I can totally understand the shrieking though. Hard to believe you had the wherewithall to even THINK about posting on here! (although I would have wanted to as well!!)

Just curious, but what kind of application stats does your D have? I understand that this is just one piece of larger considerations, but call me curious. :)

Here's her basic stats:

GPA: 3.9 unweighted, something like a 4.5 weighted
school doesn't rank
SAT:
780 M
760 CR
780 W
SAT II:
Chemistry: 620
Math II: 660
Bio M: 780

EC's: lots of theater (though never starring), All-State Chorus, J.E.T.S. (engineering competition), summer marine bio program with S.E.A., currently lab assistant/intern at our local state university, Young Life (Christian youth group) and mentor/leader for middle school branch, figure skating when younger, JV Ultimate (but clearly not recruited for athletics!).

We also have financial need, which may help them meet diversity, because we're not minority. Basically I think it's a combination of her grades/scores, and her focus on career goals. She's been pretty determined in her pursuit of marine science, and I think they like that.
Colgate is an amazing school! We're not legacy, and haven't even had the chance to visit yet, though she met their rep at her HS and liked her very much. So, Wow!

^ AMS rules!

i got my AMS letter yesterday too! i can definitely identify with the whole jumping up and down thing too haha

i applied ed2.

should be hearing back either this week or next week!

Are you sure ED2 results were not announced in February?

Don't worry, jsanz1791! (and anybody else who's now freaking out)--you probably know this but here it is on the Colgate website:
Option II: Candidates may apply for Early Decision Option II by January 15 and will be considered on a rolling basis beginning January 1. Students who applied under Regular Decision may convert their application to Early Decision Option II by filing a completed ED Agreement form prior to March 1 (The regular decision application must be postmarked by January 15). Decisions are made on Option II candidates within four weeks of receipt of the completed application and all supporting documents."
Let us know when you hear! Congrats to the other AMS folks--and I'll ask again, is Colgate your first choice? what major are you considering? It would be fun to talk about it!

well I called my admission counselor and my decision is being sent tomorrow.

btw is there an accepted students portal or something?
something you log into?

and i plan to major in international relations and economics
with a minor in greek and/or italian.

wbu?

& colgate is my number one choice.
hands down.

My D is planning on a Biology major with marine bio concentration, and lots of theater and music. Colgate is maybe tied for number one--still waiting on another.

And we just have the regular log-in, which doesn't show acceptances, just the status of all of your submitted documents.

Good luck! Tell us all how it comes out!

Oh thats really cool.

& thank you.
I was told that i should find out anywhere between saturday to next saturday.

Hang in there with all the tension! We'll be pulling for you!

I applied RD for the class of '13.
Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!!
Would you keep your fingers crossed for me please???????????????

I applied RD for the free app :)
