<p>If you are applying to harvard ssp...they are really not selective...last year was like 75% got in...if you have the $8000+ it costs to go their, they'll take you.</p>

<p>Different research programs have different degress of competition. There are the extremely competitive ones (RSI) and then there are the ones with medium levels of competition, such as some of the local ones. I live in the NYC region, so there are a bunch, and in my opinion, they are not that difficult to get into if you have overall good grades, good recs, and show a passion for science in your essays.</p>
