I know the Cal decisions aren't out yet, but which one are you guys planning on going (if accepted?)

I'm picking UCLA because I've heard nasty experiences for science majors at Cal. Especially about the fierce competition and backstabbing, not to mention classes there are a gpa killer.

mobile- im on the same boat as you. I heard the science classes at Berkeley is much harder than UCLA... but Berkeley is Berkeley... eventhough it's harder i want to challenge myself

But tbh, I would choose Cal if not for the budget cuts this year and my wife being an elementary school teacher. It would be pretty irresponsible of us for her to quit her current job where she is at now when almost no districts in the state are hiring. By attending UCLA I can easily commute there and she can keep her current job.

I do realize people would literally cut off a toe to get into a world-class school like UCLA. I feel very fortunate and appreciative to attend there this Fall!

i'm pretty sure I'll pick UCLA. i just went there today for the festival of books and completely fell in love with the campus and with westwood. so beautiful!

uh torrancecali, did you think maybe the fact it's so close is a positive thing? i wouldn't say it's a stupid idea-i live 20 min. from UCLA and if i don't get into USC i'll be going to school close to my house.

okay... going to close school might be a nice idea.! but don't choose school because it's closer... check out Berkeley and then make a decision. They have a perfect program over there! Experience new stuff and challenge yourself!

yeah, but some people can't leave and just go to berkeley. i would love to go if i got accepted, but i cannot maintain my career in berkeley, so i stay in LA.

Torrance, since my life, career, and property are in LA it is not a stupid reason. UCB can not offer me anything that will make up for what I would lose. When you get out into the real world (work-wise) you will realize that there is not much of a difference between graduating from UCLA or UCB. Hell my boss was a long beach transfer and he is now a VP and makes mid six figures.

ksbr27- if you knew that you can't attend Berkeley y did u even apply?

mathtrasnfer- im not talking about $, i'm ganna go for graduate school so undergraudate won't matter for me but I know that Berkeley would provide me a better edcuation. Although, my house is far away from Cal!
