Hi, I am wondering who is currently in Minnesota? We are taking our D to visit Carleton next Sat and wondering what kind of clothing we should bring for the weather? Do we need parka, snow boots? Is the indoor always heated? is layering the best? I used to live in Calgary, Canada. Is the weather similar to Calgary? What else should D bring for the overnight stay? A sleeping bag? A pillow? what type of sleepwear will keep her warm through the night?
Thanks for any reply in advance.
Should be around upper 40’s, maybe 50’s. Don’t need any snow gear or layers. I would just bring a jacket and a pair of gloves. The weather could be a lot nicer and if it is you’ll be glad you didn’t wear layers.
It says it’s going to be around the 50s and 60s so probably a windproof jacket would be nice. Carleton’s buildings are always heated and you won’t need that much layering at all. The weather’s probably similar to Calgary in some way but it’s going to be pretty nice next weekend.
For the overnight stay, you should have your D contact Admissions and ask if her host is going to be requesting an overnight cot for her. If not, bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. Any sleepwear will be fine – the dorms are usually comfortably warm.
@thehangingtree oh wow, 60’s even? I look forward to that, and the 70 degree day we have coming in the middle of this week
I remember visiting when it was in the low 60s. I live in a warm-weather place so I had a little vest on because it felt a little chilly. Girls were tanning on the Bald Spot in shorts and spaghetti straps. It’s all relative.
Thanks guys! That helps a ton
Yup! @bluecollar it’s going to be fantastic
And yup it’s certainly relative haha. Last term, when it reached 40 degrees, people were walking around in shorts.
I totally did the same thing (shorts and tshirt at 5’C) in Calgary when I was 20… wow long time ago…
Time to relive the memory???
Mid-50s today. Wondering how OP liked it …
Loved it. The weather is awesome!! The students are all intelligent. Great campus!
Woohoo! So glad you liked it.
