Who is IN?

So far it looks like aspiringactress is the only one accepted into CCM, if you go by the big list of acceptances.

Any others out there?

And HUGE HooHa to aspiring! Way to go!!!

My son got his letter of acceptance yesterday, although he found out on line last week. He applied for drama, not musical theatre.

Congrats!!! Did I read he is still auditioning at Julliard too? How exciting.

He's auditioning this Saturday at Julliard and then all auditions will be done. he started the process with an audition in October for Evansville and Syracuse, UMich in December, and CCM in January. The other schools he had interest in, he dropped after acceptance to Evansville. He decided against Syracuse because many musical theatre students tend to get into drama track after getting rejected for musical theatre. As a parent, I'm glad he started the process early, as it was easier fitting in auditions, especially after the early acceptance to Evansville, which took a lot of pressure off.

How's your experience been? I wish I knew more of this site last year when going through this process.

How long after one auditions for CCM's MT program does the person get notified of acceptance or not? From what some of you have posted here, it sounds as if the notification happens rather quickly .... meaning aspiring CCM students don't have to wait until March to find out if they are in or out. A very sane system, imo..

Best of luck to all of you who plan to audition.

Our experience two years ago supports what you are reading here - notification does come relatively quickly. We were actually told by some students when we were at auditions, that rejections come first, between a week to 10 days post audition. When my D hadn't heard anything after 9 days, she started to think that perhaps she was still in the running, but on Day 10 her rejection arrived. But then 5 days later her UM acceptance arrived and all else was forgotten.

Acceptances from CCM may take a bit longer, but they don't wait until they've seen all applicants. I don't remember ever reading that CCM defers candidates but that could just be because it has never happened to a CC poster.

Hang in there!

I got accepted for drama today!!!

YAY STACEY!!!

Stacey,

Congratulations!!!! Is CCM your top choice?

Huge congratulations to you, Stacey. What an achievement! I bet you are on Cloud Nine.

LD

Thank you! I'm trying not to have a first choice until I know all of my options, but CCM is definitely up there.

actorsdad-
Been gone, sorry didn't reply to your question above sooner...D is only a sophomore in hs this year so we have plenty of time to stress yet over her applications and auditions.
Right now she is trying to juggle a lead in Seussical[Gertrude], racing on the varsity ski team [in a season that keeps having to reschedule races because of snow conditions-lack thereof] AND rehearsing for the impending forensic speech team season. I can NOT imagine what her senior year will be like-shudder to think...

Stacey, way to go girl! Was acting your first choice? Or did you audition for both MT and Acting?

Big congratulations to Stacy_ga and Actordads son.

Stacy: which location/date did you audtion at? Curious, as they seem to give results pretty quickly?

Is that the norm for CCM?

They told my son it would be 2 weeks from the Tuesday after audition and that was about what it was. He auditioned for Juilliard Saturday and didn't get a call back, so he's done with auditions. I think his parents are happier than he is. Good luck all.

I have two friends (one girl who auditioned Dec 3, one guy who auditioned sometime in January) who have been accepted into CCM MT. The girl is attending...the guy is going to finish up all his auditions. Both are from Cincinnati and went to the UMich summer program with me. They got their acceptances in the week after their auditions by email.

PM me if you want more info on CCM...I'm from the Cincinnati area!

Actorsdad,

I am a Syracuse BFA Acting major and it is an incredible program. It is too bad that he eliminated it under those pretenses. I take dance classes and voice lessons as well.

It is true that you can choose the acting program as a second choice (after MT) but that does not mean it is second rated.

Good luck to him.

Yes, believersmom.
I had two students, one male and one female, accepted into CCM drama from the North East Texas auditions back in November.
Both declined the offers in favor of pursuing other schools more in line with what they are looking for.
The CCM staff is very enthusiastic in promoting the drama program.

Congratulations to those here who are going.

Shortnsweet,

Didn't want to imply it was second rate. My son narrowed his choices to include Syracuse in his top 5. The differences with his "best fit" schools come down to impressions. I would be very happy with any of his top choices. I will tell you that I was very impressed with the Syracuse students we talked to and found them to be very enthusiastic. He just felt that CCM has the program that best matches him. Their training fits his style and they have a reputation of being very tough and frank about your progress, and while some may not like it, my son does. Its all about the fit. CMU is a great school, but my son just didn't feel a connection and decided against applying there even though he took there summer program and personally asked him to apply.
