Who is planning to attend NYU (GSP) and who is not?

Okay, since receiving the invitation, I thought maybe this is not so great but hey it's still something worth to look at. I just would like you to have an idea of your opinion on this, and if you're attending the programme for sure. I know that International students and US students living abroad go to Florence, Italy in the first year. I don't know where other GSPers go to - so it would be useful to state that as well. It goes in the following order:

(Enrollment Slip: Replied? Attending for sure?) / (GSP Location: ie. Florence, or wherever they put you to be at) / (Opinions)

Here's mine:

Replied by Fax (Decision: Yes) and not sure if i'm going / Florence / I think the programme sounds sketchy and you don't get the full NYU experience since you will spend HALF of your undergrad years NOT in NYU.

I got accepted into GSP too. I requested a formal invitation, but I'm not entirely sure if I'm going. Students living in America just got to the regular NYU campus, they live in the same dorms, go to the same buildings as everyone else. It's just like another school in the college. Plus, if you can manage a 3.0 GPA, you a guaranteed a spot in the school you apply to, so you will be getting the same degree. The only reason I'm not set on going, because NYU is hands down my first choice, is financial aid. I'm waiting to see if my package is decent enough to justify going. I was actually really excited to get into GSP. It was much better than the alternative of complete rejection. I'm just looking at it as an oppurtunity to attend NYU that I normally would not have had.

I'm in the same boat, chicagojen. I'm just praying that the financial aid will be enough for me to be able to go, so I don't end up at PSU (which by the way gave me absolutely NOTHING as far as fin. aid goes)... I'm really hoping NYU's where I'll be this fall, GSP and all.

By the way... does anyone know of any GSP scholarships that they give out???

I have no clue. I hear NYU doesn't give much money to anyone, and that GSP students kind of get the shaft, but I'm hoping that I'll get the hook up. You can never tell until you get the package.

Yeahh... ughh this waiting is killing me

Where else have you guys gotten into?

so far just PSU... I'll be hearing from Northwestern either today or tomorrow (online)... I really won't know until I get my aid package from NYU (and if I get in Northwestern) where I'm going for sure. If only I was rich....

I got into GSP but plan on waiting to hear from a few other schools before I decide (Reed, Bowdoin and Bates). I have already gotten into Notre Dame (EA) and Chicago (EA) while being rejected by Carleton. I plan on majoring in philosophy and was actually thrilled to see GSP because I applied to Reed based on their "great books program." Money thankfully is not a problem.

jwblue- I read you majored in philosophy and would like to hear your opinion on the department. I am mainly interested in post-modern thought so would prefer to hear about that.

After reading all the stats of the people who have been accepted into GSP, I am actually honored. However I have been accepted to many schools including the COM program at BU. I think that is where I am going. Hope I haven't made a mistake!! I will be so happy when I am settled with a decsion. I hate this stress!!!

I got into USC, UIUC and Indiana. Rejected at UC Davis, UCLA and Florida.

yeah, i am currently deciding between UVM Honors and NYU gsp... i still have yet to hear from Colgate and Wesleyan, but i sort of feel like I'm second string, being gsp at nyu. even so.... it seemed like a really great opportunity to have small classes and get to know your professors really well, even if i DO feel like i'm in special ed.

as of right now, i'm going to nyu gsp...hopefully...unless my parents tell me they honestly can't afford it...but i still haven't heard back from five schools...so we'll see

got into GW, Lehigh, Syracuse Honors w/ 8k scholarship, Rutgers, Michigan, and NYU GSP from stern.

I've pretty much narrowed down my choices to michigan and NYU but I can't seem to pick one over the other.

I'm going to NYU GSP. I decided to go because I did ED and NYU was the most best reputed school I applied to, and if I can still graduate in four years with a BA in whatever I want, why wouldn't I go?

I also got accepted to University of Pittsburgh, Fairleigh-Dickinson, Washington and Jefferson, Temple University, Eugene Lang, Fordham and Drew University but my mind is made up.

I am most likely attending NYU GSP because having an opportunity to transfer to stern is just too good to pass up. Plus i'm a jersey guy so its close to home.

I got accepted into the GSP program after applying to Gallatin, and was seriously considering going until about April 1 when I recieved an acceptance letter from Harvard. shocked

NYU is - or was - my dream school. I love the city, I love the atmosphere, and I love the school. The problem is, how can I pass up Harvard? And I hope this makes all the GSPers out there feel even better about their acceptance into the program because I've heard of quite a few GSPers also accepted into Vassar, Harvard, Yale, etc... Just shows you how difficult admissions this year were. So congrats to all of you!

Right now I have it down between NYU gsp, Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins. I was totally shocked that I got into JHU, and it feels like an offer I shouldn't turn down. Vanderbilt gave me almost a full ride. However, NYU has always been where my heart lies, so I sort of think I'll end up there.
