I don’t think it’s soci cuz I’m a psych major. Maybe I’m just an anomoly hahha. It really sucks because I’m at a psych conevntion right now and all my clubmates who applied got in and I’m the only one. Even though I of a better gps than others + tap.

I hope it’s a department thing. I’m a communications major, and so far on CC only 2 people with the same major said they have been offered acceptance to UCLA. I just don’t understand why they are still mulling over my application. I have a solid 4.0. My EC’s were very good (at least that’s what my professors tell me) and every faculty member in my CCC who read my essays (there were 4 of them) loved them. One even said that if he were on the admissions at a UC, he would want to offer me a spot. I have to admit that I felt fairly confident of my chances, but having not heard from them yet is really a huge blow to me. I am beginning to think that I don’t have much of a chance, at both UCLA and Cal. :(

im quite surprised how this whole UC TRANSFER threads died instantly with ucla’s decision relseased. haha.

it almost seems like we are the only ones crossing fingers…

but as far as i assume… we, maybe with few exceptions, have good enough stats… which is weird and comforting at the same time.

if tech support doesn’t update by 5 today, oh well… another monday starts for us.

Caligirl you took the words out of my mouth. I feel the same way. I am TAP certified, IGETC certified, have a 4.0, all prereqs completed, great essays, a bunch of EC’s, and also regents invited. (Primary major = Psychobiology)

Maybe the 4.0 students are getting the pending status because there under the process of reviewing us for the regents scholarship. I called the scholarship office last week, and a girl working there told me that the people reviewing the regents applications had to turn in their results to the department by April 24th. Maybe, if that’s the case, they are trying to establish a new financial aid status for those who are receiving the regents scholarship.

I’ve heard that if you win the regents, it means your going to get at least $2000 per year no matter what. So because I am low income, they might want to assess my scholarship financial need more, so they need more time.

Based off of what I have read and heard from, this is my conclusion for why I and the rest of the applicants still have a pending decision:

First possibility: Very low GPA, and they want to assess you more for your respective major

Second Possibility: Need to evaluate our financial records more based off of incomplete or incorrect fafsa data

Third Possibility: want to assess you for the regents and haven’t figured out how much of a monetary value each winner will receive

To rebuttal anyone who believes the regents theory is incorrect because they applied for the regents but have already received they acceptance:

Maybe, because the admissions people found out who is going to win and not win on April 24th, the people who did not win could see there acceptance based on the fact that they don’t need to assess you any further.

Unless someone brings new suggestions or facts from last years admission pool, this is what I believe, and I’m sticking to it.

ARE YOU ALL LOW INCOME People?
I are, so are my buddy.
Independent 19 yr old students

yes, low income but I don’t think it really matters does it?

no, very high income, rule that out.

anybody get in today? or are we all still being reviewed?

I doubt it if it will come today/ tomorrow.
Looking at the waves last year, a few decisions came out the very next working day at around 10:30 am

i’m scared guys lol

yeah me too.
But atleast i have TAP in an non impacted major and URSA theory to back me up.
Also if they would have wanted to reject us, then they could have told us yesterday.
And looking at the waves from last year, quite a bunch of them were admitted.

can you post the thread were you can see the people from last year in the same boat as us?

SnYpaJY, I hope you’re right. As for now, I just have to convince myself that no news is good news.

Loopinc, I didn’t fill the FAFSA 'cos I don’t qualify for aid.

The only thing is, because my status is still pending, I am now having a hard time trying to keep my focus on finishing a big paper due on Monday. This weekend suddenly seem so long.

Here you go

thanks so much :)

caligirl- your feeling is exact same as mine…

i can’t even focus on one thing but to check this thread…and think about it.

and like someone else has mentioned, if they would have wanted to reject us, they should have already yesterday.

i think it all comes down to their closer speculations on our applications…

i honestly think we were just at the bottom of the pile, there really arn’t any unusual circumstances on my application, such as a low grade or incomplete pre-req, substantially low gpa, etc., it was really just a matter of time and we got the short end of the stick in that department.

^ but it’s funny how a lot of qualified socio major students are still pending on their decisions.

maybe socio department forgot to turn in the earlier-accepted applications…and figured it’s too late for update.

with all best hope… let’s wait…

gf was rejected yesterday for sociology… 3.8 + IGETC but followed assist for UCSD so I don’t think she finished all the prereqs

So I can see that TAP is not that necessary. TAP IS the priority for students who’s GPA is at borderline.
