Who is the smartest person you know?

^^That’s pretty scary.

Not sure you can count me as knowing him…I’ve actually read his resume, etc…son of a friend of my mom’s…

Anyways, there’s this 12-year-old who has his own Wikipedia page and a 36 on the ACT, has won a prestigious $50,000 scholarship already for research on nanotechnology, interns at a university, has won…Idk how many, but multiple awards for which he went to Washington D.C., and to top it all off, he’s a classical pianist. I completely do not understand how he exists.

William Yuan. I know him as well. In fact, we’ve crossed paths at many symposiums and such. He’s quite impressive. And he’s 13 now, if I remember correctly. All of the Davidson Fellows are incredibly intelligent. William is not pretentious or arrogant at all, though.

You’re correct; I do believe that is his name. Technically, I’ve really only heard my mom talk about him. It’s cool that you’ve met him. =)

And…hmmm, excuse me. I just checked my facts. He’s actually 13? And $25,000? Well, it certainly does not make him any less amazing. =P

Oh hahaha, yeah we’re family friends as well as research buddies. I wouldn’t say that I’m his best friend or anything - he’s pretty quiet. Or maybe he just doesn’t feel comfortable in the adult world yet. Can you imagine being that smart and so young? It’d be so weird. Emotionally, you wouldn’t be on the same level as the adults that you work with, but you’d be more intelligent than some of them. It’d be so weird.

I completely agree, although to be honest, I’m not sure I can begin to grasp how intelligent he truly must be. I live in a rather (read: extremely) under-populated area where intelligence is scarce, and so I’ve never met anyone remotely resembling him–or, indeed, most CCers.

And…research buddies? Are you currently a HS senior?

Oh yeah, I don’t understand what it must feel like to be him. I wouldn’t really want to be him. I mean, he’s blessed and I’m sure will be very happy, but he’s been put in so many situations where I would feel uncomfortable. But he’s very talented, and adapts easily.

Yes, research buddies. I won’t say where, to protect his privacy. And yes, I am a HS senior. Graduating this year. 30 more days! I just have to make a college decision now.

Yeah, I think I’m alright with being a normal person. =P

Have fun with college decisions! =)

omg this is hilarious! lol!!!

Errrrr, had to post this.

Our current concertmaster. He’s in my grade, beats a billion other insanely skilled musicians who want to become professionals to the top, and has done a bunch of scientific research with publications, wins almost every local award you could care to look up, etc. I think he wants to major in physics though lol

It’s not fair lol. :(

I would either have to say a person in an Alg 2 Class who should be in Calculus, or my 9th Grade teacher who will be 12th Grade teacher.

My 9th grade math teacher is literally a genius. The level at which he does stuff is superb, he’s extremely talented. He does eat, live, and breath, math, just like I do.

On a side note, I am pleased to see extremely young talent in the world. That Korean was especially interesting.

I have met somebody with a perfect memory. This kid started to read when he was a year and a few months old, entered college at some ridiculously young age - 8 or 9, I think, and had an IQ somewhere in the 200s, he wouldn’t tell me where. He’s now doing something at *** A COLLEGE ***, I think - on track to get his PhD before age 18. He hasn’t gotten lower than an A+ in a class before.

Of course, he could have been lying about some of the things, but I highly doubt that - he’s definitely a genius, and there were more - but I’ve omitted the more personal details so that creepers don’t figure out who he is.

The smartest person I personally know got a 2400 on the SAT and got accepted to Harvard.

Smartest person I know took Calculus in 7th grade. He’s socially very awkward but, which makes all the difference, he is aware of it and works very hard to be better. He went to Virginia Tech because Caltech and such (where he definitely could have gotten in) would /not/ have helped him on the “normal” front. He’s quadruple-majoring, double-minoring, and could still graduate in two years if he felt like it. (Not all of those are science/math. I think he’s doing economics and IR as well.) I don’t know if he will graduate that fast.

The smartest person I know sits near me in Calc…He’s ranked 2nd nationally in math and is part of our national math team. facepalm

Current high school senior going to Yale for pre-med next year. Scored 36 on the ACT, nearly perfect on the SAT, pretty much a spotless resume.

Hmm…smartest kid I know is in my Govt. class. He’s not really signficant. He doesn’t know any great facts, he just does really well in school and had a really high SAT. He’s smarter than me, that’s for darn sure. We’re going to the same college, though.

keep posting

my mom thought california was a country. i get my smarts from her.

Sonny: So what country do you want to go to?
Sal: Wyoming.
