I think my biggest accomplishment so far was finding a safety I loved. Arcadia University and Marlboro College are school I love to the point where I could take one of them over my other options.

How many of you have safeties that you love? Safeties that you would attend just as much as the other schoolson your list?

I do!!! I love UT-Austin and (although haven't visited) I have a strong acclimation towards American University. Probably going to one of these instead of Boston U, NYU, USC, and WUSTL.

I wouldn't say that my safeties are my absolute favorites, but I definitely would be happy to attend them (Clark U., Lewis and Clark, Marlboro, and New College of Flordia).

Wow, that's great. I had a hard time finding match schools that I was that excited about. Congratulations; that makes the process so much easier!

I have two safeties: Northern Arizona University which is just okay and Miami University (OH) that I absolutely love. I've always kind of known I would apply there since I used to live down the road and I'm a triple legacy. But I don't love it quite as much as some of my reaches and matches.

Me me me me me. :D I'm insanely overqualified for the school, but I absolutely and totally adore Wells. I'm so excited about visiting this fall! I also really love UConn, where I'm already accepted. Because I have that acceptance in the bag, I'm aiming really high with my other applications, because I figure it can't hurt me and I have nothing to lose. :)

Other possible safeties are Drew and Douglass College at Rutgers (if it lives), and I really do like everything I've heard about them. I haven't visited either yet, but I'm heading down in spring.

For people looking at NCF: Is it possible to consider them a safety if you're out-of-state? I've only just begun looking at them, especially since I want to stay in New England/NYC/Jersey, but I love their Med/Ren Studies program and everything I've heard about them. Should I keep them on my list of possibles?

Seeing as I usually get my advice from you, maybe I'm not the best person to be answering this. However, there seems to be a fairly large number of out-of-state students (can't come up with an exact percentage right now becauce either the site is down or Mozilla is just being stupid) and a general admit rate of around 61%. That basically boils down to someone like you being ridiculously overqualified. I agree that I really have loved everything I've heard about the school, expect about the food. Also, I'm not thrilled with the location either. I know, I know, I'm the one person who doesn't want to go to school in "nice" weather, but I love the snow and hate humidity.

Why thank you! primp What's your PR screen name, if I can ask?

College Board says they're 81% in-state and accept 53% of freshman applicants and 43% of transfers. I just can't figure out if they're 81% in-state because they don't like taking out-of-staters, or they simply don't get many applying.

Hmmm, I must still have last year's figures written down. I'm guessing that not not many people have heard of it up north, thus the small percentage of out-of-staters. Really, it's a lot like Hampshire or Bennington or Marlboro, and many Northerners haven't even heard of those. And I guess 19% isn't super small, at least not compared to more well known public schools like UNC or even UIUC. And my screen name is the same on PR that it is here. I tend to recycle screen names and passwords a lot because I mix them up otherwise.

I love my safety!! I would be so happy at UT-Austin, and if that is where i end up I will be perfectly okay. I'm so glad I already know that I will be accepted. I know lots of TX kids hate the 10% rule but it works for me.
