wow, missed it by one point, that is depressing :(

vivaldi, we own massachusetts.

I also missed it by some points. I made National Achievement though.

i'm the only one in my year to make NM semi-finalist. although, it was the day of an MUN conference, and like, half the school had the flu.

missing it by one or two points...that's the worst...

What's the difference? I believe only two girls in my class made Finalist, but I was part of a larger group that stood up at assembly as national merit somethings... any ideas about what that was?

We had 26 semifinalists at our school out of a class of 617. The other three schools in our district had 6 semifinalists combined. Our band had 7, and my clarinet section had 4, which was more than any other single school in our district.

I'm so proud of us. :)

An0nym0u5: okay, okay...you own Massachusetts. I get it. :)

And llamapyjamas, WOW. My school district doesn't even have four elementary schools, let alone that kind of NMSQT starpower...

In my class, me and another guy, who started college at a local LAC without a hs diploma, were semifinalists, and four others were commended. Both of the semifinalists and two of the commendeds are applying to Yale; myself and the other semifinalist are very serious, aspiring professional musicians; one of the commended scholars is a very serious, talented actor; and the other commendee is a somewhat serious actor and a somewhat serious musician. It'll be interesting.

I am - the only one at my school. How sad, considering it's supposed to be one of the best in Texas.

Don't feel bad...you're just superlative, that's all.

In my school, only one person got semi-finalist and only one person got commended (me). That bothers me. They announce this in every local publication and at every meeting/assembly, so everyone knows that I didn't get semifinalist.

vivaldi87- what do you mean when you say that HYP aren't impressed by commended scholars? Another words, if I wrote i'm a commended scholar on my resume would that hurt more than not writing it at all, or just that they don't care about commended scholars and only semi-finalists? I live in CT btw.

My school is nuts. Out of a class of 48, 21 were semifinalists and 10 (I think) were commended. See, we used to have a finishing-school kind of vibe, but we're becoming hardcore.

I didn't prepare, I had a fricken cold, and I got a 217 in NJ, which apparently is one of a handful of states where that isn't enough.

Regardless, I don't know how much of a difference it makes.

hhehehe vivaldi

but who prepares for the PSAT!?!? theres a P for a reason.
