thanks.....you know, i was vacillating this whole summer as far as whether to go with engineering or business .......but i ended up going with engineering just because i felt it was a good "back up" degree.......would a business "minor" + an engineering degree attract those same employers that recruit from smeal?......or do they not have the time to take someone who has little or no business knowledge, under their belt?.......

I found this link on investment banker salaries:

http://www.careers-in-finance.com/ibsal.htm

I've noticed the considerable difference between those at BBs and those who are not, especially at the higher levels. Since there are only a few BBs and if anybody has the numbers, I would be interested to know what % of all bankers work there.

Carl, if you can handle it as a minor, go ahead. But I'm sure the recruiting companies are not exclusive to Smeal students. All schools are like that. At Michigan, for example, it's not just the Ross kids but also the LSA kids and engineering kids who also go to the career fairs, campus recruitment events, etc.

There are more ibanks than we would expect. Boutique ones are everywhere. Those at BB are a small percentage.

thanx red share.......ill definitely be going to those events coz i know pennstate has a couple.........just wondering, are you at penn state?

That seems correct Mahras.

It almost seems like there are 2 tiers of ibanking, the BBs make up a small percentage of total bankers but account for an enormous percentage of all deal flow.

Yes. Keep in mind the top top boutiques are also very lucrative. Basically Lazard, and Greenhill.
