I'm curious as to know who makes the decisions behind the college admissions and how the process goes? Who are the admissions committee? What about admissions counselors? How do they come together and decide? Are people who work in the admissions office alumni volunteers? I heard some cases are like that..

My story was one of the amazing stories when i applied to a university and i got accepted someone from the admission department sent to me message says, who is gave you " acceptance " you can not get it because you Lacks for some requirements ! you are " unacceptable" really ! i said okay thanks, after 10 days i got message from admission was " congratulation you are accepted " really ! and now i am in :)

How does that happened ? no answer

Can someone explain to me the difference between deffered and delayed admission? I have looked everywhere on the internet and all of the answers are ambiguous

Orange, deferred means you are pushed to a later decision pool to see if you can get in. [Deferred College Admission - What To Do If You Get Deferred for College Admission](What to Do When Your College Application Gets Deferred) Delayed admission is when you’ve been accepted but wish to delay starting school for some reason. [U of I Admissions: Request for Delay of Admission](http://admissions.illinois.edu/forms/delayedadmission.html)

State Schools - owing to large numbers of applications, they are read by several committees composed of high school teachers, professors, and alumni. Most of the time, they are put into three piles. Deny, accept, and borderline. The borderline ones often are put on the waiting list or later supplemented by the applicants who are requested to provide more info.

Privates - varies significantly

Not all schools have the exact same process. For schools you are interested in, check their admissions websites and see if they discuss the process at all. Some for example have blogs where the admissions department write entries about various stages of the process. An example I know about is -

An interesting behind-the-scenes look is detailed in this book -

Hmm. I’m curious as to know any adult here on cc served as an admissions officer before or currently and read applications etc?

There are a few Adcoms here on CC, they will be designated by the title College Rep under their member name. Most stick to the individual college forum for the school they are affiliated with.
