My dad essentially named me. He told my mom the name and she liked it too so that's how they named me. Do any of you have people that named you other than your parents?

yea ME!! my dad’s sis told my mom my name and my parents liked it. <333 my dad’s sis and her husband lol

My grandfather wanted to name me Walter, which would make me Walter IV (my dad was the III) but thankfully my mom wouldn’t have it and named me after her dad instead :P

my dad named my official name, but my mom named my other name… i’m named after a religous saint, but i’m gonna change my name so it includes both my other name and official name.

My Grandpa named me actually; it’s really a traditional name, not that common anymore though. My first name is his middle name.

My mom named me, or it could have been someone who could foresee my sexual future as my name means “Lord of the spear”.

My Aunt gave me my first name and my sister gave me my middle name. My first name is a little annoying because its the same name as the main character/ title of a popular 90s show. People always say "(insert my name), as in the show, right? My middle name is nice though. It’s the same as a General Hospital character though I doubt anyone planned it.

The middle name is the only thing that means anything in my family. The first name was just because “they liked the sound of it.”

It was between Hillary Ann and Bethany Dark.

I got the first one. Though, having a middle name of Dark (like my aunt does) would have been so badass.

My mom picked my name, but my middle name was basically picked for me by my great-great-great-great-great-grandparents. They named their daughter Jane in 1804, and now there has to be at least one Jane per generation in my mom’s family.

My mother named me after a game show contestant she liked. :(

My mom named me (my first name) after her grandmother and my dad named me (my middle name) after his aunt.

My dad named my brother (his first name) after his great-grandfather and my mom named my brother (his middle name) after her great-grandfather or something like that.

…seems like a good system

My dad named me, but my brother wanted to name me Kimberly after the pink Power Ranger…

My dad named me after himself. =/

My dad chose my first name, after one of his sisters. My mum wanted to name me either Emily or Nicole, which would have been much better, since the name my dad chose is considered foreign and somewhat difficult for most Americans to pronounce correctly. I wasn’t given a middle name at birth, so I chose my own last year.

My grandmother chose my Chinese name. My dad chose my first name - it’s kind of funny because all the kids in my generation in my family have names that begin with A.

I named myself…well my actual name (which is not used except for legal things) came from my parents, but the name I use everywhere (like school records) was chosen by me. No one really knows my real name.

My parents chose my name. I going to change my last name though

I got named after my dad. I still don’t get it. My mom wanted to name me Samantha.

My mom did.
I’m not saying that I’d be better of if my dad had name me, but I don’t really like my name because it’s very common. On top of that my mom(or maybe both my parents) didn’t feel like giving me or my sister a middle name. In addition to my last name that makes a really common name.

I was named after a villain on a soap opera show
