BUT if Oregon wins out with beating arizona state, UCLA and oregon state, do you think they should be ranked higher than BC even if BC wins out?
[/quote]

That's difficult to say. It depends on a lot of factors. For example, if Cal keeps losing (which I hope does not happen), then Oregon's lone loss to Cal is going to look worse and worse. If BC runs the table, it would mean that it would have to win the ACC championship game, of whom the opponent is obviously unclear, but I suspect will probably be Virginia Tech. Beating a good Virginia Tech team twice is a solid accomplishment.

But besides, I think it's premature to be having this discussion anyway. The truth is, both teams probably won't run the table (maybe one will, but it's unlikely that both will). Even if they do, perhaps the other contenders will fall down such that BC and Oregon can meet in the national championship game and everything can then be decided on the field.

The UC's are just having bad luck this year, I guess. We brought back 20 starters this year and were supposed to be competing for at least a top 5 spot this year. Foiled. I know you guys had a roster full of talent as well and were even at #2 at one point, so even you....Foiled. I guess if we didn't screw ourselves over losing to the bottom feeders(SC to Stanford, Cal to Oreg. St., and us to all the other ****tiest teams in the country) the Pac-10 would be the strongest conference right now. At least ASU and Oregon are holding on strong..

I still think the Pac-10 is still in pretty decent shape. 3 teams are in the just-released AP top 25 poll, and 2 other teams getting some votes. That's half of the conference getting voting points. Not too many other conferences can say the same.

I thought Tedford was gonna put in Riley...they showed Riley warming up after Longshore threw an INT. Give the kid a chance...maybe he'd be able to wake up the offense.

Cal needs to shore up its defense...if we can do that, next season looks strong.

Is Carpenter a senior? Cal gave him a good beating last night, but he kept hitting his receivers for huge gains despite his obvious hand pain.

^ Hopefully a Pac-10 school will be represented in the NCG.

That would be quite a feat for Dennis Erickson...the guy would be college football coach of the year. I wonder why he moves around so much, though?...he's had tremendous success with turning programs around.

Not to be a doomsayer, but I figured something like this would happen. I've been following Cal football for 8 years almost now, and there is a definite pattern of us either losing a few games in the middle of the season or just flaming out like we did my first year. ...looks like we're flaming out.

I wonder why he moves around so much, though?...he's had tremendous success with turning programs around.

I'm not really familiar with Erickson's career. Has he been fired a lot? Or has he quit many of his positions? If the latter, I'd say that maybe he's a Larry Brown type personality. He just gets bored and looks for new teams to turn around.

Sheed: I agree. If ASU goes undefeated, Tim can (and will lol) call me a liar, which i won't blame him for, but i just do not think ASU is at the level of beating top teams every week. with the exception of the Cal game, they'd played teams with losing records. It will be much harder playing ranked teams each week from here on out-physically and mentally. ASU does not have experience playing in games where championships are on the line, and it is only a matter of time before they, and their over-emotional QB, fold.

Erickson won two nat'l championships (with Miami, I believe?), then went to the NFL, where he was not at all successful as a coach. Alas, he is now with ASU.

UCB: I too wanted Riley to play. We were going to lose anyway, they might as well give him some experience.

Everyone can have an opinion, so why don't you shut up and give a valid argument instead of coming in here and calling people out, xXssjNaurto89Xx!

voltage, just calm yourself. you are on the Cal thread, and we want to talk about Cal football, not whatever godforsaken team you worship. If you have an opinion, fine. but present it in a courteous manner, like sheed. he's a duck fan, but he doesn't rub it in people's faces constantly.
