Who said the Pac-10 is a weak conference?

^ I love the look on #99's face...all winded. Can't keep up with the speed of the SEC, right?

Haha, the joke was 'Honk if you sacked Troy Smith'. Too bad we couldn't do it again this year. :(

ahh, i was waiting to see how long it would take for an SEC fan, specifically one from LSU or FL, to mosey their way on in here making sure their conference supremacy is heard loud and clear. I truly wonder though, the SEC claims that they are tough because their teams are ranked so high (and they do deserve it), but when the Pac-10 had more teams in the top15 than any other conference earlier this year, the SEC claimed that was merely a result of losses due to a tougher schedule in their own conference. So which one is it? Do rankings matter, are they merely a convenient afterthought to be used only when one can boast their own superiority?

Great vid though, I guess I should start hating OSU now, huh UCB? :)

^ Haha! Definitely since you got accepted to UMich and I saw Wisky, as well. Congrats! You better start hating The Ohio State University.

Actually, I'm surprised to see any UF and LSU students on College Confidential... But, GatorEng is an engineer, so that kinda explains it. ;)

Just kidding, Gator. Good to have some different viewpoints for discussion.

Haha UCB, so you looked up how Mangino looked like? Geez, I'd say he weighs 400 pounds at least. What do you think?
Also, I don't think Les Miles will leave for Michigan. Apparently, LSU put on the contract that they signed that if Miles decides to leave for Michigan, he has to pay LSU 1.5 million dollars or something like that.

What do you guys think of the pac 10 officials. Did you guys see the terrrrrrrrible calls on the Oregon State and Washington game. Terrible terrible calls. amazing that any of them are even refs.

Yep, Pac-10 refs are the worst. I saw that call for the Oregon State game on YouTube. Half of the guy's body was down before the ball popped out! It wasn't even reviewed?! Crazy! Hopefully the Pac-10 had a word with these doofuses.

How can you possibly miss this call:
YouTube - INCOMPETENT Pac-10 Officiating: UW @ OSU

I remember during one Cal game, it was the head referee's first game...it seems like they pull blind guys off the street.

Yea, you won't find many SEC students on CC, we're too busy having lives. :p

vc08, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Who cares what the Pac-10 record was earlier in the season? It usually works out that the SEC is shown to be the nation's best conference by season's end. This season will be no different.

Yeah, I figured. Hey Gator, when you attend UF games, are there many stereotypical southerners in mullets and jorts, wearing replica Tim Tebow jerseys? :p

Well, actually, when Cal beat Tennessee the first week of the season, SEC fans were writing off Tennessee saying they weren't an upper-echelon team.

Now look at it, Cal is at best a mid-tier Pac-10 team and UT is an upper tier SEC team.

But, teams change thru the season. It's impossible to judge a conference based on one game.

Man, I didn't get to watch the Wash/OSU game but based on that call I'm sure it must've been an atrocity. At least review the damn play. Did Wash go on to score on that drive?

Btw, anyone know what happened to Jake Locker? I'm going to go look it up right now but I'm sure it won't be good..

SEC is the best conference, even this year.

Go Gators!

I don't think so. If Washington would have won, I'm sure OSU fans would have stormed the field.

Btw, anyone know what happened to Jake Locker?

[/quote]

What I read it was a stinger/neck sprain. He'll likely miss Washington's next game against Cal.

1. SEC is the best conference, even this year.
2. Go Gators!

Since you are a BU student, I guess you have a right to adopt a team.

Are you still going to say the SEC is the best conference when Kansas and Oregon go to the NCG?

Pac-10 rules, SEC drools... in terms of academics, at least :P

ah, KU v Oregon, that'd be one heckuva matchup lol.

Locker getting hurt will be a gift for Cal this week, though it's unfortunate for UW he can't play.

just for laughs (and bc i was curious), i put together a compilation of the top 5 schools in each of the big 3 conferences, and what they rank (overall nationally, then among US public schools):

Pac-10:

Stanford: 4, NA (private)
Berkeley: 21, 1
UCLA: 25, 3 T-Michigan
USC: 27, NA
Washington: 42, 11

Big 10:

Northwestern: 14, NA
Michigan: 25 (go blue!) T-UCLA, 3 T-UCLA
Wisconsin: 38, 7 T-UI
Illinois: 38 T-Wisc., 7 T-Wisc
Penn State: 48, 13

SEC:

Vanderbilt: 19 T-ND, NA
Florida: 49, 14
Georgia: 59, 17 T-Rutgers, Pitt, TX A&M
Alabama: 91, 41
Tennessee:96, 44 T-Auburn

source: US News and World Report

Overall Rank: Pac-10, Big-10, SEC

It's worth mentioning that the Colorado School of Mines was ranked 75th, which would rank 4th overall among all SEC schools.

Too bad universities were meant to educate in academics, not football, huh?

vc08, we know SEC schools are not academically on par with other schools. What's the point of bringing that up? I thought we were talking football.

Plenty! They are a lot of fun at tailgates. :)

Cal was ranked higher than Tennessee and they were playing at Cal. They were suppose to win.

not according to tennessee message boards before the game lol.
