So first off, I'm kind of a quiet student and therefore my teachers often don't get to know me that well. So, I'm having trouble figuring out who to ask for my recommendations. I'm only going to ask junior or senior year teachers, because my sophomore teachers who I could have asked left the school.

AP Biology: This was taught by the dean of students. I actually did talk and participate in this class. I ended up doing well in it. At the end of the year, I asked him if he would write my recommendation this coming year and he agreed. However, he's kind of out of it (he's really busy with everything and wasn't really "there" as a teacher. We often had class with the other AP Biology teacher). At the end of each term, teachers write us "comments" to go along with our grades. His at the end of the year were pretty generic. He did say that worked really hard to earn my grade, but I can't tell if that was part of my generic comment.

Calculus: This is typically a "senior class" (there were two juniors, including myself, in the class). I felt really uncomfortabe talking in the class (so did the other junior) and actually did not say anything in it the entire year. I had a couple one-on-one conversations asking for help/just talking with the teacher (he's actually an awesome guy), but I basically didn't participate in class at all and I don't know if he likes me that much/if he would write a good rec. I know he would put a lot of effort into it though. I got A's every term.

Out of those two, who should I pick? I also could have the option of asking my teacher who will be teaching me both AP Calc AB and AP Euro and knows me as a dorm parent and seems to like me. However, I'm considering asking my English teacher next year and don't know if it would be great to do two senior year teacher recommendations.

For humanities, I could choose either my teacher this year or next year. Next year, I think that I will end up participating in class (I will be in in AP Lit). My teacher was also my dorm parent this year (I didn't see him that much though, he was the least involved dorm parent), liked me a lot because he and my sophomore English teacher were best friends and my sophomore teacher absolutely adored me and thought I was brilliant, and seems to already think that I'm an excellent English student because of the above mentioned teacher. I will work really hard in his class. I'm just concerned about asking a senior teacher.

My English teacher from this year liked me I guess (he wrote in my comments that the reason he bumped up my 92.5 to an A was because he thought I worked really hard that term). But I didn't really talk in his class very much and I honestly don't like him as a person. Part of the reason I thought he didn't like me was because he always called on the same four or five people and whenever I raised my hand, let them talk instead of me. A girl I know says that she thought he really liked me, but he never did anything to show me that (that I noticed). If she's right though, then maybe it is good to ask him?

I don't know who to ask. My next year AP Calc/Euro teacher could go for either math or humanities (plus I would have him for two periods a day so he would know me better than my other senior year teachers), but I don't know yet if he'll like me that much.

Who should I ask?
