<p>How can a jock have no ECs? Athletics IS an EC. In fact in terms of getting an admissions boost, being a recruited athlete is the very best EC one can have.</p>
<p>And many athletes also have excellent grades too. Every year I attend the Footlocker high school cross country national championships. They bring in the 64 best cross country athletes in the entire US (32 boys and 32 girls). Before the beginning of each race they introduce each athlete over the PA system and read out both their athletic and academic honors. I'm always amazed at what high academic achievers these "jocks" are. Being on the honor roll is routine for them, and being class val or sal or National Merit scholars is very common. Those "jocks" all end up going to excellent universities.</p>
