who thinks it doesn't pay off to be a jock in the end?

<p>"Every year I attend the Footlocker high school cross country national championships."</p>

<p>But then again xc tends to attract smart athletes, even at the elite level. (seriously, according the NCAA, DI XC runners have the highest GPAs of all collegiate varisty athletes). BTW, coureur, by attend to you mean "run in" as in "qualify for." If so, who are you? Maybe I've heard of you (I run XC myself, though I'm not Footlocker Nationals-fast). But I absolutely agree that athletes are far from being necessarily stupid. I would argue that the percentage of athletes who are intelligent is equal to that in the greater population, but since jocks are already a small subset of the population, the smart jock is fairly rare. The rarity of the smart jock makes people assume that all jocks are dumb, which is obviously not the case.</p>
