Who thinks they're going?

hey ,girls ..I'm an international studnt and I've got into BMC ..but I have a silly question , do students there have proms ? I am just wondering ...lol

I have no idea lol. I don't even know if colleges have proms. That's a good question to ask at the chat tonight :)

We have a Senior Cocktail and a Senior Cruise but I haven't heard of a Senior Prom yet. Last year a club organized a formal dance as a fundraiser (I am not sure if this happens every year or not), but it wasn't quite as big of a deal as prom in high school.

Of course we have several BIG parties a year, but they aren't anywhere near formal :D

Thanks girls! Superwoman, I'd love to be your sister from another mister! hahah

englishivy, that was so funny crashing into you on the chat today! We should definetly go into NYC together on sopme weekends!

The chat was amazing. I am 150% percent sold on this school. In fact, had I discovered it before Barnard I'm sure it would have been my first choice all the way. And to think I almost didn't apply. I HAVE to get more financial aid. Fate has just been leading me along by the nose to this school!

I am so conflicted right now! I love the vibe i get from this school and the women who go to it but i have a lot of other schools to chose from as well. Is anyone here going to the mosaic?

inasummertown, that was so funny! Fate indeed!

sonjanicky-- i'm going to mosaic!

I still haven't received the acceptance package in the mail. Should I contact them? (I'm international, btw)

blanche2negru- I got it, but then again they sent mine out the 30th and I got it 3 days later :)
so, you should wait a while, or if you do call then ask when international will be receiving theres :)

articlights & sonjanicky- I'm going too!!! I'm so excited!

inasummertown- Thanks for accepting my offer! But yea, this school has DEFinetly been fate lol, I wasn't even planning on applying until I went on collegeweek live and talk to one of the admissions officers for like 3 hours. It was AMAZING :)

hey girls .. I'm an international student .. I've got some questions about BMC ...btw , it is my first choice !!lol

1.can I choose 2 majors and get a double degree ?

2.Are there many students choose courses at Haveford , Swarthmore , and UPENN ? I've also heard that students could actually live in Haveford , is that true ? If I choose courses at those 3 schools , will I get a degree there or just degree from BMC ?

3.Are there many chances to meet opposite sex ?I used to have lots of opposite sex friends ..so it may be a little weird for me to be at a college without boys ///lol

4.How is the enviroment around the campus ? how is the public security there ?

5.Do students there have horse- riding class ? or any martial arts class ?

6.I heard that students at BMC alsways have a lot of work to do .. is that true ?

some of the questions may seem silly ..it would be great if u guys could just anwer all of them !!!thanx ~~~

Thank you superwoman for the advice.

AlinaQ, I heard that you can double major in some areas at Bryn Mawr, but I am not aware of all of them where this is possible. I know that I wrote in my application about double majoring in Math and Dance. Also, I recall you can double major in Psychology and Dance too :D

You can double-major if you like. You can pick any major combination you would like, though some will obviously be easier than others. For example, physics/Greek will be harder to work out than a physics/math combination because none of the classes overlap, but it is possible with some careful planning.

Most students take at least one course at Haverford every year. Swarthmore and UPenn are less popular because the commute is longer. (10 minutes to Haverford, 40 minutes to Swarthmore, 60-90 minutes to Penn) Regardless of where you take your classes, you will receive your degree from Bryn Mawr.

The lack of guys is less apparent than you probably expect because we have female students filling the personality roles usually held by male students in high school (nerdy, dominant, whatever). That being said, only 20% of the Bi-Co is male, so most students have to go out of their way to find a date. I know students with boyfriends at Swarthmore, Penn, Drexel, Villanova, and guys who are not currently attending college.

Bryn Mawr is located in one of the wealthier suburbs of Philadelphia. Houses in the area are incredibly expensive and we have two expensive private K-12 schools right next door. That is to say, the area around the college is very safe. Most of our Public Safety incidents (which are reported in the student newspaper) revolve around "suspicious males" on campus, which usually turn out to be Haverford students waiting for the Blue Bus...

We have an equestrian club that organizes weekly trips to a horse riding farm where you can take riding lessons, but you have to pay for them. We also have a Karate and a Fencing club, and we have self-defense courses for PE credit.

Bryn Mawr students like to pretend that our academics are tough. But from my experience, classes at Bryn Mawr tend to entail less work than Haverford or Swarthmore classes, and students there are doing just fine.

Thank u so much !!!!b@r!um That really helps a lot !!

blanche2negru, if you have any questions about math at Bryn Mawr, feel free to PM me!

hi b@r!um-do you know anyone that's in the Archeology program?
that's what my intended major is and i was just wondering what they thought about it..

How is poli sci at Bryn Mawr?

Archaeology is one of Bryn Mawr's strongest programs; I recently met a new grad who's doing her PhD at U of Chicago (one of the best in the field).

Yeah, that's the main reason I applied to Bryn Mawr.
That's good news!

Did any of you guys join the class of 2013 facebook group?

I did!
