Who thinks they're not getting IN?

MIT admissions decisions will be released online in less than two weeks! Stress and nervousness are the dominant themes in the forum right now.

Just for fun-
Anyone feeling unmotivated, non-confident, or at least cautiously pessimistic? Don't be shy. And let us know why you have a feeling (or just really really hope) that March 17th will be a bad day for you.

So I am the only one:)

nah, i read over my essays again, and they're pretty crap :-( sad too, mit was my first choice.

my first essay is crap - the other two are fairly unique though.

however, i dont think i stressed my love for math and science enough. and i have no hope after being rejected to everywhere else i have applied to so far.

I may have created the other thread, but I'm posting on this one. I'm so ridiculously nervous, and I can't wait for the 17th to get here- just so I can know for sure that I'm rejected and stop dwelling on it.

I really only applied to see if I could get in, but over the past few months I've realized that MIT could be a good fit, but I think that I will fall short of getting in. I know I did this for fun but I think that now I really do want it

BTW, ACT 35
SAT II : Math II 800, Chem 790, US History 780

GPA 4.675, (UW) 4.00, rank: 1/780

Just to give you a picture, I just think that overall with my blah essays and blah extracurriculars, I'm not sure I'll get in.

^Shutup. Your stats are amazing and i would kill for them.

yeah fo ruhl. my essays were awesome but my stats less than awesome. so i dont think its gonna be a good day.

I'm expecting good ole' rejection.

Yeah, I'll get rejected. I know a first-generation kid taking graduate math classes who got rejected, so a math major who's only gone up to calc 3, linear algebra, and diff eq hasn't got a chance.

rejection rules!

I don't even entertain thoughts of acceptance.
not only do I have bad stats, my essays weren't great...I thought that they were then..but, uh....no, not so much. And shut up, person who has great scores and is 1/780

eight days

Haha, i'm not the only one... wonderful... I'm considering disabling my email account temp. so I can't get the rejection email.... :(

I think everyone feels like they are going to get rejected... however we also feel this small voice that tells us... you still stand a chance...

I'm expecting rejection but hoping for admittance. I'm applying as a transfer though.

how bout...those who get accepted give 10$ to those who got rejected via paypal as a consolation gift...

Not me. I get dreams of getting likely rejectetion letter from MIT.

ooh likely rejections! i can just imagine:

"Dear Sir,

It gives me great joy to tell you that you have astounded the admissions committee ! Astounded the admissions committee with how some stuipid @#$%$%#$% like you, dear sir, could have the audacity to apply. You are indeed one in a million. I have great confidence that, come March the 17th, you will get a large envelope containing details about the undergraduate program at MIT. Of course, we'll just be messing with you. The admission materials are meant to make you feel terrible at the thought of everything you'll be missing out on, and give the admission committe a couple of more laughs....at your expense of course. That being said, you should relax and enjoy what remains of your senior year, without worrying about college acceptances.....because, if we can infer anything from your quite...extraordinary test scores and personal qualities, you wont be getting any.

Cheerios,

MIT dudes

P.S. In case we didnt make it clear, you've been rejected.

Dear Mr. _______,

You just got PWND

Sincerely,
The MIT Admissions Committee

P.S. No, you will not be better off at XYZ State or Caltech...
