Who to Ask for Rec? Please Help

How important is it to have a rec from exactly 1 humanities teacher and one stem teacher? I want to ask my math teacher for a rec because I’m doing well in that class this year. The problem is that I have only had this teacher for 1 month or so, and thus I am unsure if that Rec would be good.

On the other hand, I want to ask my junior year English teacher because I did really well in that class. However, I also think that my foreign language teacher would write a good rec because even though I don’t have the best grade in that class (3.8 vs 4.0 for the other two teachers) I have helped the teacher a lot outside of the classroom (tutoring other kids, stage production). The teacher could also speak to my work ethic because I struggled a lot freshman year in the class (I’ve had the same teacher for foreign language all four years.)

So should I ask the English and foreign language teacher for recs, or is a Stem rec so important that I should not ask one of the other two teachers?
Thanks for the help!

Are you planning to major in a STEM discipline? If so, then i imagine a letter from someone in math or science would be important.

If not, then assuming that the schools don’t have a stipulation about needing a math/science letter, then the priority should be with teachers who know you well.

@bjkmom I will not be applying to a STEM major, so I guess that clears it up. Thanks for your response.

I think a LOR from an English and a Spanish teacher would be fine given that you are not looking towards a STEM major.
