How har is it? What topics are tested?

The quantitative exam isn't really used for placement. Rather, they implement it just to make sure that you're competent enough to actually place into whatever math level you've signed up for (not sure if it's mandatory for students not taking math courses, but I'd guess it is). Over all, you shouldn't be too worried about it. It tests topics ranging from geometry and analysis/trig to some basic calculus. You'll likely pass it fine if you've taken at least AP Calc AB or even Analysis.

you would pass it if you took math through middle school, its mostly fractions and the time allowed is an hour or so and it takes about 15 minutes

Lol, that hurts. I did sort of fail it.... (had to talk to math profs, but grade was still high enough that I didn't have to take any lower math - Also, the profs rocked. They just wanted to know what direction you were planning on heading and how math might play into it). Anyways, most of it was easy. The parts that weren't for me were because I never I either never learned it or the we might have done it for a week in high school and it was just a matter of not reviewing it in so long. I'd say, if you had a strong precalc background or any type of Calc you'd be set. I had neither so that's what hurt me. But overall, not too shabby.

i haven't done math since Grade 10...all I know about precalculus is its spelling:$ I'm a Div II or Div I kind of person and Div III seems terrifying. I also have something bordering on arithmophobia...i know nothing about calculus and things...
should i prepare for the placement test or should i just take it as it comes and be prepared for 100/101 before i can fulfil my Quantitative Requirement?
