Who turned down UCLA?

Hi. Just curious as to what schools people have chosen when they said no to UCLA.

Guess I will start. My D was accepted to UC San Diego which is the closest to home. She was also accepted to UCLA, CAL, USC, UCI (also close to home), and Princeton. Her final decision was CAL. Her best friend is also going to CAL, which made her decision easier.

Me. I'm going to Baylor, for a variety of reasons (Wonderful scholarship, farther from home, smaller, etc.). It was a hard decision, since there are so many wonderful things about UCLA.

In fact, up until this weekend, I wasn't sure if I was going to Baylor or UCLA. At least I'd narrowed it down that far. I applied to and got accepted to 12 schools.

SDD, I am turning down the same schools plus Stanford for CAL.

There's a thread right below

I got accepted to all the UC's( full ride at UCSC and UCR and $5,000 a year at UCI) and USC....Turned all those schools for CAL!

GO BEARS!!

That thread is for schools that people turned down FOR UCLA. This thread is for the opposite.

i probably will go to cal, but it was a TOUGH decision! for me, both schools were neck to neck in terms of pros and cons and i liked them both a lot, but i fell in love with the urban environment at cal when i visited this weekend.

go bears! (and bruins too...)

heh i turned down UCLA for Indiana University - Bloomington yup hellll yeaaaaa

NYU. UCLA was actually my first choice, but NYU gave me a free ride so I'll be going there.

UCLA's sort of stingy on the OOS students.

i chose UCSD because of my major bioE...UCLA only gave me chemE. Hard decision but i made the right one

turned down ucla for ucsb! :-)

Nothing wrong with choosing UCB over UCLA -- apples and oranges, as the saying goes. But it's great, on the other hand, to see that no one who turned UCLA down in this thread did so in favor of the University of Second Choice...

"turned down ucla for ucsb!"

that i can totally understand... ucsb has the most gorgeous campus i have ever seen. the view is incredible.

turning down UCLA for stanford... still have mixed emotions about it because I love UCLA.

Accepted to Cal, UCLA Honors + Chancellor's Blue and Gold, UCSD, UCI Honors + Chancellor's Full Tuition, Harvey Mudd + 16.7k, and USC + Freshman Science Honors, Thematic Option, College Honors Society, Honors in Multimedia Scholarship + 15k.

Going to USC. (Now don't turn this into a UCLA vs. USC thread. There are great qualities in both schools. I just wanted to answer the OP's question.)

^ Me too! I think UCLA is an amazing school, but I'm turning it down for USC's Bac/MD program cuz I don't want to suffer too much with med skl apps and such later :-d... and also its nyce having the guarantee... However if I didn't get into USC's Bac/MD.. I woulda gone to UCLA :).

turning down ucla. its too expensive for a poor OOS like me. but at least now i get bragging rights for getting in. wahaha

For Princeton...
Pton offered 42k in financial aid a year--pretty hard to resist.

Daughter will turn down UCLA to go to either CU-Boulder (Honors College) or Georgetown.
