Hey.... liked the idea on the Penn board so here it goes:

Who will you tell (in what order) if you get accepted?
Me:

-my little sister, who's been an absolute doll and makes me cookies to pass the time!
-my best friend
-my teacher recommenders
-the rest of my friends
-my house counselor, my dorm mates, the guy who serves lunch in the cafeteria, the sales clerk at CVS, the guy who makes expresso at Starbucks....

Oh yeah, my parents might want to know too.

-My fellow mathletes (since I'll find out right before practice)
-My 2 most college-obsessed friends
-My CC buddies
-My brother and sister
-My parents
-My recommending teachers

When I found out I was at a discussion forum on national security and i knew the letter was coming that day. I had my mom open it and call me on my cellphone (actually her cellphone which she lent me for that purpose.) When she told me I got in I started screaming outside the door where the discussion was taking place and when I went back in everyone was staring at me like I was nuts. Of course I told them. So the first people other than my parents to know were a bunch of strangers from other high schools on Long Island!

My daughter got a likely letter from Dartmouth in March. She was going out to walk the dog, I heard her walk out of the door. Then she walked back in. She came upstairs to my bedroom and she was crying, I did not see the dog behind her, so I asked, where is the dog? Through her tears, she said, I got in. I said you got in where, She said, Dartmouth. I hugged her, congratulated her. She said thank you for all of the days that she felt I was getting on her nerves. She was still so nervous, and kept asking me if it was for real. I said yes sweetie, its for real, but where is the dog?She called the dog upstairs, then her grandparents, my sister and her best friends.

By the time they got to school on monday the whole first period AP English class knew. She said the principal yelled her name in the hall (she was a little shocked by this) then ran over to hug her and congratulate her.

My parents and twin sister: they'll check the result with me at 4 AM Dec.10. (in China)
My Dartmouth interviewer: he promised to celebrate my being accepted with me the first moment I get my admission.
My classmates and teachers: it will probably be the last day of my high school life, since most US college-bound high school students would stay at home and prepare for the college things as soon as they are admitted.
BBS / MSN / AIM / OICQ buddies around the world
Everyone I know

Wow wuqinggong, if only that had been the case at my school when I got in ED... would have done wonders for my cumulative GPA.

I'm nervous for them too, athena. Haha, it's crazy. Seriously, I've been waiting for Thursday all week just so I can find out how the D-mouthers do. So awesome. Buona fortuna, i mei amici!

Our grading system in China is different. We don't have GPA. (and we leave it blank on the application forms) All Chinese high school seniors are preparing for the so called ''Hardest Standardized Tests in the World", the notorious National College Entrance Examinations, just to gain the admission to a Chinese college. So if I am accepted by Dartmouth why bother going to school any more?
