I applied to UMich, and some other in state universities. I know my gpa sucks, is it even possible to get into UMich? How much will the SAT even help? Where else should I apply? What schools will give me a lot of money for National Merit finalist status? I'm pretty undecided for my college major, but my interests are journalism, political science, english, pre med, pre law. My main goal is to go to the best place possible.

Thanks for the help, it is much appreciated.

Your GPA isn’t low in general, it’s just low by CC’s astronomically high standards. I’d say your a match for Michigan considering that you’re in state and your extremely strong test scores. Consider other more numbers-based schools (usually bigger, public schools) that are heavily test-score based. Don’t stress and good luck.

You will get into UMich. I would be shocked if you didn’t.

As for this “What schools will give me a lot of money for National Merit finalist status?”
Try Arizona State University (they have a great honors college and being a finalist will get you a full ride). You might also want to apply to Wayne State (they will dump money on you).

Thanks for the reply. If it matters, I applied Oct.1 I think.

Also, what schools were you referring to that put a lot of weight on the SAT?

Some other schools I was thinking about were Northwestern, Rice, University of Southern California. But these may be a bit of a reach. UMich is my first choice though.

hey youve got tgreat stats!!! your gpa may seem low… but your scores make up for it!! work some more at ec’s and on your gpa, and you should consider uc berkeley, ucla, and usc!!

bump…first round of decisions and no word. I’m extremely nervous. Anyone with similar stats get in? Anyone else with experience for Umich want to chance me?
Thanks
