So, this fall, I will be going to a small, sort of prestigious school in my area which I got a phenomenal scholarship to.
However, I am sort of disheartened that I never received an email message regarding applying to the honors college. Two friends of my mine who are attending received this email, and I never did. As a matter of fact, they received no scholarship.
So, who would I email regarding this issue? Admissions?
Check the school’s website to identify the Director of the Honors program, and email them and probably add your admissions counselor as a “cc” recipient of the email. In a respectful tone, express your interest in the Honors program, ask about requirements for admission to Honors, expressing your interest, and ask if you could still be considered for the program. It may be that the email went into spam or you deleted it by accident, between checking emails on phone etc. Worst case scenario, they say you weren’t eligible or that the date has passed. Better to know now than fret about it over the summer.
As you get ready for college, think about ways to be more “proactive” – one of the biggest adjustments from high school to college can be the greater independence and responsibility. Teachers don’t collect homework, no one is reminding students about the test coming up. So, consider this an opportunity to be more independent – rather than wait for the email that never came, take the initiative to find out about Honors admission.
Good luck!
My guess is by getting the scholarship you are already enrolled in the honors college, but definitely check as @Midwestmomofboys said.
