I was looking at my degree progress report on mycalpoly, and it lists my first quarter classes. I thought registration wasn’t open yet? Plus I haven’t done anything with registration. What’s the deal?

I read somewhere that incoming freshmen were supposed to be pre-registered for 12 credits by their college. You get this schedule at SOAR. Cultural Anthropology seems a bit strange for a MATE major … Chem 124 seems to be an important course unless you already have AP credit for this.

The pre-registered me for all my classes, all four… Is there any way I can drop maybe like one of the classes or am i stuck with this schedule… one of them isn’t really important (public speaking) lol.

By clicking on the “Grades” link of the Student Center, my son was able to see all the classes he was assigned for fall quarter '09. Then, by clicking on the course number (ex. Engl 145) he was able to find out the day/time of the class as well as the instructor.

My son’s mycalpoly doesn’t show anything yet. 123321, comms 101 or 102 is a required ge, so you will be taking one of those courses at some point.

My son is also pre-registered for 4 classes yet he received no email to this effect. Weird. You’d think they’d at least notify the students. Am I missing something? BTW, thanks NBrink & Ralph4. We would not have learned this without your input.

It appears to be a ‘work in progress’. I checked earlier - there were 2 classes. I checked later, there were 3 classes. I think the “official” announcement is at SOAR, since new freshmen can’t register (add, delete, etc) classes until later in August.

It also shows how many slots are left in each class and if ours are any indication it looks like there will be little latitude for switching classes in August.

Well, you folks made me look. And, um… I’m registered for the stuff I thought I registered for at the end of spring quarter. Nothing odd there, though I’m scratching my head a bit at what I’m reading here with regards to the incoming freshmen.

Of perhaps greater interest to you folks, when I try to view PASS (the thing we use to acctually plan our schedules), I get this message.
"PASS is offline until the schedule of classes for Fall Quarter 2009 is available (July 27, 2009 7:00 AM). "

Most interesting. Although I cannot read the mind of the folks at the admin building, I’m going to hazard a guess as to what’s going on here: I’m guessing they are going to assign the incoming freshmen a default schedule, but then allow folks to change it, for the purposes of allowing them to plan somewhat better and to stop the whining about ‘I can’t get ENGL 134 and it’s here on my flowchart’ (Really, do NOT worry in the slightest about flowchart order with GE’s. It doesn’t matter in the slightest if you take ENGL 134, COMS 101, or any other odd GE that doesn’t have prereqs. I don’t even know why they even put specific GE’s on the flowcharts).
