http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1019709-duke-ed-rice-tufts-wake-forest.html</a></p>

I chanced you back btw ;D. Thats odd that nowadays people are lower with expectations. I’ve been told sd is a reach, berkeley is a high reach, davis is a match/high match. hmm
And its the bs md program at wayne btw

UCSD- High Match/match
UC Davis- Low Match/match
UCBerkeley- reach

your gpa is a real killer in your app.

suggestions? please?

I’d say Berkeley is a high reach and the other UCs are big reaches too. I’m not familiar with wayne state. Approx. 98% of Berkeley students were in the top 10% of their HS class and the same goes for all UCs. I heard that UC Davis’s freshmen were ALL in the top 10% of their class. Face it, UCs weigh GPA and class rank very heavily and your 3.5 GPA and top 40% rank don’t make the cut.

i wouldn’t say gpa is as weighted and defined as r3d says. they obviously won’t just glance over your solid sat scores and dedicated ECs; however, i believe it is true that your GPA/rank will hurt you in UCs more so than academically equivalent privates or even publics.

red, check USNews. 100% of UC Davis’s (or UCSD’s, I forget which one) freshmen were in the top 10% of their HS class. It means that if he’s not in the top 10% of his class, he has virtually no chance. For other UCs, the percentage is at 96% or above, except for UC Riverside, which is 94%. This is based off of 2008 statistics, but it’s most likely representative of each year’s UC admissions.

It’s true that your GPA and rank will definitely hurt you in the UCs. However, your ECs are great and your sat scores are great, really solid. That said, I’ll say that you have a decent shot. Best of luck!

Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1029217-one-more-time-i-promise-ill-chance-you-back.html</a></p>

Well, I do come from a feeder highschool, where about 10% of our senior class last year went to berkeley itself, and im guessing about 30% goes to mid UC’s + LA as well. Luckily, my school doesnt disclose class rank, and im just estimating it based on my schools average GPA.
So does this mean I have close to no chance at davis and sd? :(. I took really REALLy hard classes in high school, and my weighted is a 3.8, though i dont know if that helps much.

@horseshowrider…ill chance you after you chance me. :)

You look high-match/matchy for all of these. Except for the last one, that one’s an IN.

Hey hey > [Chance for Toppies! Will chance BACK! - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1028062&referrerid=421954)

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the chance! I chanced you back
What about tufts university? Is GPA really going to kill me that much? I will have either a 4.0 or 3.8 first semester of senior year (uw), would that help any?

You have above average ECs, good awards, tough course rigor, and decent grades. I’m not that familiar with the UC system, but if you’re at a feeder school that doesn’t disclose rank, you might be in luck then.

UCSD- match
UC Davis- match/low match
UCBerkeley- low reach/reach
Wayne State- sorry, don’t know enough about it

I’d say you are competitive at Tufts. If you like it, then go for it! The key is to make sure you have awesome essays, then it comes down to luck of the draw. Best wishes :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1027620-brown-ed-chances-i-chance-back.html</a></p>

you have fair chances as big dreamer described but hopefully your ranking won’t hurt you too much. they won’t overlook that you come from a competitive school.

You have a good chance for Wayne State (don’t be fooled by their lower requirements though), they’re in downtown detroit so they want to attract kids that have lower grades but are still really good students, yet their Med program is competitive to get into. Not sure how it is for someone outside of Michigan.

I think you have a great shot at most of these schools. You’re SATs are definitely good enough to get you in! I’d maybe have a teacher look over your essay and you should be fine!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1027521-chance-me-rd-upenn-ill-cb-2.html</a></p>

UCSD- match/high match
UCD- low match
UCBerkeley- reach

Don’t worry you have a decent chance for UCSD and UCD even though you’re not in top 10%.

Chance me? same UCs
