Congratulations Eb and Frainy!!!!

yay that makes 3!! Congrats girls!

Hey! congrats CAC119, frainy and eb11! Hope you all choose to attend Smith. I am an intel who got in ED by the way:)

that's great .. i also just found out that one of my good friends from school also got in!!:)

are you guys all domestic applicants? how come everyone on this board gets notified early? are the merit scholarships such as Zollman and STRIDE only available to domestic students? Thanks.

btw, CONGRATULATIONS to all who got in!! you girls ROCK~ :)

Curios Kid: Yup, Zollman and STRIDE are only available for domestic students.

My friend got into Smith and I think she is also a STRIDE recipient. I'm really proud of her -- she says that if she gets a reasonable amount of financial aid, she'll put Smith at the top of her list, despite her #2 offering her a full-ride. (I think the STRIDE was the icing that tipped her into Smith's favor. ;)) I'm really proud of her. :) :)

Congratulations to all who received early word through the scholarship notifications!

As for the rest of you, hang in there. Decisions will be announced in just a few days.

Congratulations ladies!!!! :)

I got STRIDE too, but I have no idea what I'd want to research as I'm not a big fan of science.

The question of what to research--there are quite a few options in the social sciences, humanities, and arts--is less of a concern than who you research for. They will present you with a long list with summary descriptions (50? 60? 80?) and ask you to rank your top five choices. There was a History/Classics project that I drooled over, for ex.

However, as to who you work for, some profs given their STRIDE's meaningful work and others treat them as low-grade clerical labor. I would recommend isolating what projects strike your interest and then asking around about the reputation of the prof and the project. You can pose questions here on CC and ask for answers privately via PM. You can also (shudder) ask around on DailyJolt.

The prof D chose got rave reviews from his students and former students and she chose his project even though it wasn't quite down the middle of the plate for her interests and she has been very very happy with the association.
