Hey guys! Sad news I was deferred, but it’s okay considering that I had a 26 ACT. I wanted to ask about a letter of continued interest. I wrote one that is funny and serious, but is there anything specific that should be in it?

I got deferred to but i have good ACT too (34). I was wondering if should put in my letter of continued interest of a business that i started that helps charity? If not, any other suggestions?

My letter states my personality, which is funny and why Hopkins is important to me. I also made a promise to go there if I am accepted and I put my other accomplishments since I got deferred. I also cannot retake my ACT or the SAT because the next ACT is in Feb. and school is closed so I can’t get a fee waiver for the next SAT. Do you think I should include that in my letter?

I was checking around a bit and with colleges such as JHU and it seemed as if it wont necessarily matter if we send in a letter of continued interest. “The top-tier schools place no interest in the student’s intentions – their ability to draw in accepted students is already very high.”
At this point I see sending a letter as just badgering the adcoms. Any other thoughts?

re: “This Rap Got Me Into Johns Hopkins” – I can let you know that the title of that student’s YouTube video is quite misleading. The student was admitted to Johns Hopkins last year off the wait list, but the video & rap is not the reason the Admissions Committee selected him.
