@QwertyNerd, just adjusted it. They probably don’t have a quota, but do you look at your majors before they accept you. Ahh, finally someone who understands my pain…

If I get rejected by Penn it will be 40% my fault and 60% my guidance counselor’s fault, if I get deferred it will be 95% my fault and 5% my guidance counselor’s fault, if I get accepted it will probably be 30% my fault and 35% my teachers recs and probably and 35% for all the people who gave me help throughout this process from students to teachers to parents.

Really? Hopefully we’ll both get in then, which would be awesome!
I submitted a portfolio, though it wasn’t that great–I wish I had more time to create more well thought out pieces to submit, but I just threw whatever I had together.
What did you include in your portfolio? I put mainly fine arts stuff–drawings, paintings, etc.

@sweetcookie! I just realized you’re not on this list! Which school have you applied to?!

also @laodicean: I don’t think I’ve ever had any trouble understanding your point

by the way guys were your Why Penn essays super creative or just traditional? I keep feeling weird that mine was too boring but the topic didn’t really allow for creativity… right? :(

@aangel42: My Penn essay was also very to the point. It was pretty boring and probably very clich

applying to wharton…LESS THAN 2 DAYS NOW

@aangel42, my guess for sweetcookie is CAS. but that is all it is, a guess.

My english teacher who read my essays atleast 5 times told me these kind of essays are inherently bland. So those who have a really unique essay for the Why Penn essay, kudos to you. I wouldn’t say my essay was unique, but my interests were a little different.

@coolstorybroski: I love your username. That’s pretty much my catchphrase.

Just to adjust aangel’s question:

How did you feel about each of your essays (traditional, creative, interesting, etc.): Why Penn, Common App, Optional Short Essay (if you did it), and dual degree essay (if you did it)?

Seeing that compiled list just made me more nervous. Haha.

@QwertyNerd I didn’t really have any time for my portfolio either. I made some video for a physics project so I submitted that. They never emailed me a confirmation that they got my email though. Were you notified that they received your portfolio?

@mwrecks, I know the universe is out to get me. I could have stayed peacefully in Canada, but now I am here and will die in student debt even if I go to a safety school. Yesterday, I had a horrible day school-wise, today a horrible day college-wise, etc. I don’t mean to bring my negativity to this thread, but its just been bugging me for some time.

@aangel24 my why penn essay was relatively creative but still specific. I opened with a specific experience over the summer, tied it into an internship I had at a business school, then said what I would bring to Penn (in the form of an organization/club). Hopefully Penn will appreciate it and not think its too all over the place, and since I applied to Wharton, I hope they’ll see the business sides of it (the organization/my essay) as well.

@all: how many of you did overnight stays? How were they? How about interviews?

@coolstorybroski: I’M DIGGIN THE USERNAME hahaha seriously I hope you get in just for that, if nothing else

and @loldanielol: I KNOW I have no idea why I keep updating that list because the Wharton list just kills me every time… but I can’t resist? lol which is super weird I guess, but yeah I’m in the same boat as you!

We should all like pretend we’re accepted for the next 2 days. Even if it sucks after that, at least we had fun for these 2 days! Right? lol I’d totally do that, like pretend to be there and all in the library or hanging out or throwing toast or something haha

@C0nqu1stador: I sent mine in via snail mail, and I never got a confirmation. I also sent them something else through the e-mail and they never replied. I have a feeling they just don’t reply when one submits supplementary materials. I’m not going to worry about it.

I am really surprised how the break down for the dual degree w/ the exception of the VIPER applicant, is pretty even. Even though Penn accepts 25 for LSM, 50 for M&T, and probably some number for Huntsman, there are still about 3-4 applicants on this thread for each dual degree.

Yeah, I applied for CAS. It’s a long shot, but whatever.
@free2rhyme: I personally called Penn several weeks ago, and you’re right that they want your grades from every high school you’ve attended. My counselor wasn’t very helpful on this matter, but good thing I wanted to send additional transcripts anyway.

@nemosum: I didn’t do an overnight stay.
I had an interview, and it went fairly well. It was more of a conversation than an anything. She’d ask me a question, I’d answer, and then we talked about stuff that had to do with my answer. The alumni who gave the interview was easy to talk to, and seemed like she liked me. I’m generally an awkward person socially, so the fact that there weren’t too many weird pauses is an accomplishment for me. Also, she said she only interviews about 2-3 ED applicants a year, so I doubt she’ll write me a mean review (she doesn’t have a lot of people to compare me to lol).

I haven’t posted before but have been following for a while. I applied ED to CAS. Can’t wait for Friday!
