Cornell CAS does give decisions over the phone - and if you call they will gladly look it up for you. The woman I spoke with said they are well aware that deposit deadlines are coming up quick for many applicants and if there has been a decision made, they will certainly give it to you. Like Burton said, there is some turn around time from when the decision is made and when the decision is posted.

I think a lot of the ILR decisions are given over the phone as well.

I think they will make some decisions this week and next week and let us know on the last week of April… I do not understand why they cant just post it and just tell us!!! Do u think CALS do the phone call thing also? Do u think if u request a phone call, that might work towards ur advantage cuz they might feel bad if they tell u that u were rejected? lol just wondering…

They are certainly not going to feel bad about rejecting you. I wouldn’t count on it…

dragonneedspank:

as violaghost said–it does not make a difference in your decision whether or not you have them call you…they are not going to feel bad about rejecting you or any of the other 1200 applicants or whatever it is <to put=“” it=“” bluntly=“”></to>

it’s not really harsh to have them reject you over the phone, even though everybody kept saying it in last year’s thread…any rejection is equally as bad…and any acceptance is equally as good (except maybe getting it in a really nice envelope which I did last year, but cornell apparently doesn’t do it that way). Having a link with a decision and knowing that you are one click away from rejection or acceptance seems just as bad.

Also, the reason why some were saying they do and others that they don’t give out decisions by the phone…is that they were talking about the specific colleges and the GTs…apparently for GTs and for certain schools the default method of informing you of your decision is either by e-mail or by phone…they don’t do that for CAS unless you request it and have them put you on a list if your decision hasn’t been made yet or just tell it to you on the phone if it is already final when you call.

As a side note, besides all the procedural information, I found last year’s thread really useless and disappointing going through the whole thing; maybe 2 or 3 people total posted their stats after their rejection or acceptance…that decisions thread viola created will really be helpful to us who hear later in the process as well as to those applying next year…it would be nice if they could have made one (sigh)…

I’m sort of panicking. I got that email a while back saying they’re missing material, but everything on the checklist is green. I emailed the office (no reply) and phoned (had to navigate through their phone maze and got put on hold… will try again on Monday).

I sent the midterm report in the middle of March (with the college report, it took them a month to get it on) so I’m guessing they should get it this week. If only I made a photocopy before sending it in… sigh Chasing profs around during exam period getting sigs will take forever!

Any other status pages I can check? Any other actions to take?
Also, which number do I call to get placed on the call list for ILR?

Thanks in advance!

You can prolly just call the main admissions #: 607-255-5241 and ask them about it.

Although I’m not sure if they do a call list for ILR…they prolly do…but that might be a school you get a phone call or e-mail from anyways when they make the decision…they should be able to tell you.

ya, just call the office…I actually encountered the same problem as you, and got both the email and letter in the mail about my “missing material”–I too thought it was my midterm report they were missing cuz I had sent it in like a week prior to the email, but turns out it was some transcript from a college course that I took while I was back in hs…so definitely give them a call! there’s no other status page to check for it.

Goddessxx, I would recommend e-mailing Ian-the ILR admissions advisor. I had the same problem as you a week ago (missing mid-term report) and was told to e-mail him. So I did and he responded promptly, saying that he did a quick check of my materials and found that, in fact, nothing was missing. Definitely e-mail him, he should be helpful.

I called today to see if I could get put on a call list to get notified as soon as a decision was made, but the CAS representative told me that they don’t do that.

But she did say that decisions should mostly come out one way or another before May.

ipredictsunshine:

hmmm…don’t know why that is…they must have changed their policy…or possibly they are not doing it because they expect decisions to come out quite soon (before the critical may 1st deadline)…if so that is really good news as we will be finding out soon

At any rate, is anybody having problems accessing the self-service system today

I just got my ApplicantID this morning and have tried to login and it says there is an error and to try logging in later or submit a troubleshooting report.

Has anybody else got this error today? Or does this error usually occur when you first try to login?

BTW: I activated my id and did the password and security questions and all; so that isn’t the problem

Omg i got accepted!! They emailed me and i was accepted!!!
