Ah that kind of sucks. I was hoping for Collegetown housing.

Dewdrop, I recall someone on these boards saying that most transfers get singles. Is this true? If we want a single, can we get one easily?

Yup mine says downloaded, but it took about a week until it appeared on the self-service website. I just brought my exams to my professors and asked them to write down my current grade. Why would you guys want a single? I'd probably try NOT to get one, maybe easier to meet other people that way?

Housing is randomly assigned with most transfers ending up in Collegetown/West Campus.

Most transfers do not get singles....although the new dorms have more singles than the old ones...you are not guaranteed one, but you can make a request. As a student entering in the middle of the academic year...your chances are slim.

singles are awesome...don't know about you, but I need my space. when you dorm with someone, you're only meeting one extra person you probably wouldn't meet otherwise...
I mean you're surrounded by thousands of students, it's not like just because you sleep in a single, you're not gonna have friends.

I think singles are also ideal if you have a bf/gf.

Well..a single is nice...but like I said, it's luck of the draw. Although you certainly have a better shot of getting a single than I did in my day when we had the old U-Halls and the other dorms were under construction.

Why haven't they downloaded my payment yet?!? I submitted on the 10th!

Seems like it should have gotten there by now, maybe try calling in to the office of admissions (ask for processing) and see if they can find out what happened.

EDIT: whoops, didn't see that you already tried calling in..maybe wait until next week and then see if they still haven't received it..I wouldn't be too worried though, unlike some of the materials that must be mailed in, the payment is done online and can probably be resolved pretty quickly.

Don't worry DarkStar, I called them and they said it usually takes a minimum of a week for the payment to get processed.

I have one problem though. I sent my high school transcript (around two weeks ago) and when I called, they said they still haven't received it. I am worried that they might not accept the transcript (official and sealed) because I sent it in an envelope myself; i.e. my high school doesn't send out transcripts so I had to submit it myself.

Did you guys have your high school send out your transcripts?

Nope, I did the same thing..my high school mailed me my transcript and I sent it out with my college transcript. That's weird that they haven't received your high school transcript yet..maybe wait until sometime next week, and if they still don't have it, I would send another one (with shipping confirmation) just to be safe.

Just a word of advice...if you have any more paperwork to be mailed to Cornell...I highly suggest using delivery confirmation. It's only a few extra cents on your postage and it gives incredible piece of mind.

Thanks for the advice...I just realized that I could have done that.

Wow, I never knew the mailing system was so primitive. I sent the envelope(first-class) on the 10th. It should have been there 2-3 days later. Hopefully it's not lost...Oh well, I will contact them next week and see if they recieved it.

I just called and the lady said they had my app, dean rec, and college transcript. I requested for my HS to send my transcript (and paid) like 2 weeks ago, and my professor said he sent his rec about 2 weeks ago (the other is still working on it). I am getting paranoid about it, because not completing my app in time would be devastating. It is a good thing Nov. 1 is only the postmark deadline.

The postal service in New Orleans still hasn't quite recovered from Katrina....I never send anything to or from my place without delivery confirmation.

Anyway...I doubt your envelope was lost. It's most likely in Ithaca at the processing center and in the system...the folks just haven't updated your account.

I called today and the lady told me that my supplement was missing. I told her that I had definitely submitted it and after some digging around, she found it and put it with my file.

If things are missing, wait a bit before resending, or at the very least call them to confirm. As Dewdrop said, chances are it reached Ithaca and is in a big bucket waiting to be sorted.

Just in case anyone was wondering I talked to an admissions lady for the College of Arts and Sciences and she said that accepted transfers usually have anywhere from a 3.5 GPA to a 4.0.

I'm a 3.724 (soon to be 3.805), so I guess my personal essays and statements are going to weigh in quite heavily.

My Common App is almost done (should finish tomorrow), the Personal Essay is moments away from being finished and then I'm onto the Transfer Supplement! Ahh! I'm running out of time.

8 DAYS LEFT!

Peace,
Sam

I'm worried about my 3.5UW from HS, although it was an upward trend...but my college gpa should be at least 3.75, if not higher.

I know, I know, as a first semester college freshman I can't just "guess" my gpa and expect it to work out...but I aced all my midterms and papers...and my classes are pretty easy.

Just an update. Today all of my stuff came up on the self-service but it didn't have the college and major I'm applying to, so I called them. The lady was confused why the system didn't automatically imput my college/major from the supplement, but said she would take care of it.

I wonder if the new PeopleSoft system is giving them trouble with the self-service?

PeopleSoft is causing a lot of problems...from slowing financial aid review to crashing during course enrollment.

I sent everything in september (except the supplement becaus it came out late), and the self-service thing still hasen't showed my major.

Wow, did you call them to let them know? Also, what major are you applying for?
