Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

so i called cornell student services and they said the secondary school report isn’t required … that makes things easier i guess. since now i dont have to go to my high school to hand in the report. but is this true? i want to call again to confirm lol.

Ziiam- U can copy/paste it to the pm message. =)

collegeboss- Where exactly did u find that information. I have looked everywhere for it. According to the site, it doesn’t specify what max of word can be used. It only specifies the minimum. Please if anyone can confirm this it will be great.

serendepity- If you download the paper application, there is a check list of the required material you must send and the school report is not there. In fact, the common applications forms they provide, there’s no school report ;)

The only thing you’ll need from high school is your official transcript and possibly SAT scores depending upon which school you’re applying to and what year you currently are.

And after a search, I’ve concluded that there’s no max for the “why transfer” essay. You’re all probably thinking of the supplement essays.

Also, e-mail would probably be a more efficient means of sending essays since PMs have a max of 5000 characters which can be embedded within them.

guys, what about housing? I did all the applicationg stuff , but i forgot about housing. When are we supposed to apply for that, or what we gotta do?

are you a current applicant? or have you already been accepted?

I’m a current applicant(tranfer for spring 2010).

housing things come once you’ve been accepted

i’m asking because I’ve seen on the website about annual contracts and not semianual (like for spring students). So will they just let u know how to do it?

yes. what school did you apply for and what major?

Cornell CALS applied economics and management (AEM)

does anyone know if we had to specify what concentration we planned to follow in the cornell transfer essay, or we just had to say AEM as major?

you can talk about it, but it’s not required

Does anyone know when the mid-term reports are required to be sent in?

I’ve heard both October 1st and November 1st. Can anyone clarify please? :)

And best of luck to everyone!

also curious

october 1 is preferred, but you can call and explain that you won’t have grades for every class by then. the application filing period was moved up, they’ll have to understand. that’s what i plan on doing. i also did that last time, so it’s okay but you should let them know.

yeah im supposed to send in a midgrade report and they havent even sent me anything anyway.

for you, i’d assume you can just make one. class title/level/credit value, grade to date, and instructor’s signature. the new version of the commonapp has a little space for “additional comments” below each grade thing, so you could throw that in there if you really wanted, but for you it’s not necessary.

At my school, the approximate mid-semester date is October 27th…RISD starts class September 16th, so sending in reports by October 1st, is, well…a little bit early.

My guess is I should call and ask them what to do. I sent in my entire application in 2 weeks ago though, and the last bit of paper work (College Official’s Report) was sent out yesterday. Still no Applicant ID sent to me, which worries me (do they really have such a huge applicant volume?).

I’m glad to see that not everyone thinks not having all the prereqs automatically kills you…Admittedly, I haven’t exactly had an opportunity to take any animal sci major prereqs since I’m at an art school. Duly noted in my application, luckily I went AP crazy in high school so most of them are covered if I transfer in as a junior, all of them if I transfer in as a sophomore…Because I have so many college art credits, I might just be put as a sophomore anyway.
crosses fingers November can’t come fast enough =(

Brandnew, everything we need for our Spring GT application is on
http://admissions.cornell.edu/downloads/GTTOApplication.pdf</a>
It covers all of the colleges offering GT, but has specifics about certain schools.
The GT deadline on the app is November 1st. I’m calling Humec to make sure of this.
Good Luck!! :)

I just submitted my application, supplement, and all transcripts/letters of rec are in the mail. This will be the most nerve-wracking period ever. I feel like I have no chance but oh well I have nothing to lose by applying.

Also, what’s the deal with the midterm report? Where can I find this form and what do I do if my professor’s don’t have grades calculated at the time?
